Hi all:

among my recent acquisitions is a Daniel Defense DD5v3, 7.62x51 with a 16” barrel. It shoots like a house afire and I’m very happy with it. Currently I have a Trijicon Credo 1-8x scope on it and, while the scope is high quality with excellent glass, I am yearning for more magnification. Right now I am thinking about either the Nightforce NX8 2.5x20 with the MOAR reticle or the Eotech Vudu 3.5x18. The Nightforce is a little more expensive and the Eotech perhaps is a little more durable? Both would offer decent field of view at lower magnification/shorter range while still being able to reach out. Do any of you have experience with either of these scopes? Is there anything else in the $1500-2000 range I should be looking at?

Thanks!

I don't own any scope in that price range, but the Element Nexus has good reviews. Highly recommended by Ilya Koshkin.

I went with a Nightforce 14X SHV on my P308 and like it alot. Great light gathering and a good compromise between magnification and FOV. I do wish Id spent the extra $$ for the illuminated reticle though. Ive shot it out to 600yds and didn't really wish for more magnification on man-sized silouettes. If you're chasing tiny groups at those ranges, you might want more.

Take a look at Meopta too, they are a great bang for the buck these days.

Once you get into that price range, it's pretty much a matter of personal preference. Make a list of your must have attributes. Covered or exposed turrets. Zero stop. Locking turrets. Reticle, etc.

I've had my eye on the Eotech Vudu 5-25x50 lately.

I recommend the Bushnell elite tactical xrs3. It's right in the middle of your budget. Great glass, great magnification range if you want to have the option of extended magnification, while looking good at 6x power. I do not own one, but I was introduced to it on a friend's ar-15, and have been behind it on sunny days, overcast days, and quite frankly borderline way too dark to shoot days.

NX8 2.5-20x50 is good to go.

Bushnell DMR and XRS III are good to go.

Leupold Mk5HD is good to go.

Burris XTR III is good to go.

Vortex Viper PST II is good to go.
