With an original DPMS pattern, you can buy any part you need, either factory or after market, from a variety of sources. With an Armalite, you can get on their website and order any part you need.

Not so with a S&W. if you break something or wear a proprietary part out and they won't admit to it being defective, you have a paperweight on your hands. As for them saying spares will be available soon, the rifle has been out for 2 years. When you have several options that are so close in performance and price, I'll take the one for which there is an existing source of parts and a company that actually gives a crap about product support.
Well don't play garage gunsmith and shoot it when you know something's wrong with the barrel like you did and chances are you won't need a replacement barrel! You're the only problem I've heard of on an M&P 10.

The SW will probably be the most accurate out of those choices as well as the lightest. I just got one and I'm printing very tight groups out of box with it and some PPU 168s. Awesome rifle.

There will be fans of almost every brand there is. I bought a DPMS LR-260H a couple years ago,and it had two issues out of the box that I fixed easily.
1. The factory trigger sucks-I knew that going in,and already had a RRA NM 2 stage waiting for it before I bought the rifle.
2. It had the wrong buffer spring in it,and wouldn't cycle correctly. My local dealer gave me the correct spring, and the problem was instantly solved.

I wanted the rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, but nobody made a lighter HBAR style barreled rifle, they all had Varmint/Bull barrels and that wasn't what I wanted. This was going to be a hog hunting rifle, not a target rifle so I saw DPMS had the rifle that I wanted in 260 Remington.
I handload for every rifle I shoot, and this one is a fantastic shooter at close or long range with my loads.

Find the rifle that suits your needs, and is in the configuration that you intend to use it with. Don't worry about the name stamped on the side of it. If you intend on changing a factory rifle up,I'd suggest something built off the DPMS platform. You will find a lot more things for it.
