Greetings,
I've searched and searched the internet and forum to no avail. I think my question might be somewhat unique due to the nature of the upper receiver I purchased.
I bought a DPMS flat top receiver with a 20 inch 1-8 twist stainless steel bull barrel and free floated hand guards. The receiver has a raised flat top in order to aid in proper optic height (as described on the midwayusa description, and it appears so in person as well).
The gas block has a small piece of railing on top of it as well, but is the standard gas block height.
Now, normally I would assume that with receivers bearing a normal (non-raised) flat top rail, that a gas block height front sight along with the standard rear sight would work.
I can't seem to find any information on whether I need to add a riser to the gas block and mount a gas block height front sight atop the riser.
When I contacted DPMS, they didn't seem to really understand my question and directed me to buy a gas block height sight.
It just doesn't make sense that a standard gas block height front sight would be suitable for a receiver bearing a raised rail.
Perhaps I am crazy and over complicating things. Please help....
