I'm looking for 45 degree off-set iron sights for my AR flat top. It has the typical gas block with Picatinny rail slightly lower than the rear rail.

Are there any 45 degree adapters or 45 degree iron sights that are corrected for this configuration? I don't want to spend a fortune for these, BTW.

EDIT: I want folding sights, BTW.

Someone told me 45° backup sights are designed to be mounted on the same rail. Mine are installed like you described, front sight on gas block, and aperture adjustment down/right sufficed only barely. I've tried to look for a very low picatinny riser/adapter but haven't found one yet.

I have THIS UPPER in 20" length. I'd be horribly inaccurate with the iron sites mounted that close together. If I can't make irons work then I guess my only other option is a 45 degree adapter and a red dot... but I really want to keep the back-up sights "low-tech".

I also added to my OP... I want folding sights.

Why in heck doesn't anyone make a Picatinny gas block with a rail that's the same height as the flat-top rail?!?

Because it'll prevent the removal of free float tube while the gas block is in place, I suppose. A 2-piece gas block might solve that problem, but I'd prefer either a ½" riser or 45° sights that are designed for a lower-than-receiver gas block rail.

Where are those available?

^^^ "Same height above bore as standard-issue M4 / M16A4 sights"

THAT'S the phrase I was looking for. Thank you!!
