AR-15 scope

Okay, I can't find any pictures, so here goes with a description.

It's about six inches long, with a 30mm tube, no bells on either end, just a plain cylinder, comes in black or stainless with a carrying-handle mount, has a bullet-drop compensator (I think, may be different model), and is usually pretty cheap.

Who makes these? For a plinkin' gun, are they worth the 25-40 dollars they usually cost? Does the BDC work?

I bought a Chinese clone of the original Colt 3X that cost several hundred $ way back when. Looked identical with the integral mount, etc. The scope worked well although I never tried the bullet drop compensator as I never shot further than 100 yds.
