With all the posts we have on THR it occurred to me that we don't have an AR-15 thread going. Well, now we do. :D

This is my Colt AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine. I bought it (gently used) in celebration of the AWB sunset. It's stock except for the DPMS ambidextrous safety, the British L1A1 sling, and the IOR Valdada 3x25mm CQB scope. I used to have a Hakko scope which was good, but I wanted something more rugged. The mag is a 30 round Magpul PMag.

Read it and weep, Feinstein:

Now let's see your black rifles.

Heres mine: Stag upper/lower, MI FF rail, CTR stock, EO 512 and clone 3x mag both in LT mounts, Grip Pod, and yes, CA neutered with locked 10 round mag.:banghead:

This is a good idea, I did a search and didn't find any AR-15 owners thread or "club." I'm in, I still need my upper from CMMG. I'll post a pic when it comes in.

hmmm... does my "work in progress" project AR count???

Nice looking rifles, all. How about some details from guys who posted only pictures?

Certainly!

Colt 6520 converted to a flattop

I really like this one. I've considered rebarreling my rifle with one from a 6520.

Just built yesterday

Finished my first AR Friday. Took it out today and broke in the barrel. After that approx 100 rds with absolutely feeding issues.

DPMS Lower.
DEL-Ton Kit (Mid-Length, chrome).
Mag-Pul and Brownells mags.
Bushmaster carry handle (used from internets).

And my favorite part, a SMLE Sling.

Total cost was approx 700.

My turn to share with the club!

My plain Jane carbine, following the KISS principle. No batteries to go dead, no light bulbs to burn out.

This is my Bushmaster XM15-E2S. Changes include National Match sights, Bravo Co. M16 bolt carrier group, M4 handguards, 4-pos CAR stock, and MagPul trigger guard. My mags are all Okay Industries USGI 30-rounders and Lancer L5s. No stoppages or problems of any kind so far.

I like this rifle a lot, it's very light and handy, and the A1 sights stay where you set them.

Sure.

The 14.5" lightweight I posted has a CMMG pencil barrel with a PRI tube on a Les Baer lightweight upper (no forward assist). Inside it uses a Young N/M Lite skeletonized chrome BCG and bolt and a Geissele SSA FCG. On the back is an Ace Ultra Light stock. While I started with the lightest tough red dot, a Burris FastFire in a LaRue IronDot, because it has no irons I went to the uber reliable Aimpoint T-1 in a LaRue mount.

The 6520 converted to a flattop..., well, that pretty much describes it. Brownells provided a Colt A3 upper and it got a Geissele DMR FCG, as well as an Aimpoint Micro up top. It's a very sweet little carbine.

Of course doing that conversion left me with an unemployed Colt A2 upper receiver. You know how that goes - like a seed in the garden. It turned into a Bushy barrelled 14.5" M4 profile carbine with an LMT BCG and an LMT two stage trigger with an ARMS #2 holding an Aimpoint Micro on the carry handle and a CAR stock:

I do tend to like 'em light, with strong guts.

But I have concocted a relatively heavy one; a CMMG 20" government profile with furniture by Ironwood Designs:

ETA - I didn't really think about it until after I'd posted, but all of the above have 1:7 twists.

Here's mine at the moment. More is expected later.

DPMS model Lite-16/A-15, absolutely no thrills but solid functionality.
