AR Sight Suggestions

Personally I think spending $300 to $500 for a red dot is insane. There are some great 3-9 power scopes for the AR that are compact and will give you all the range sighting from 50 to 500 yards with great accuracy.

If you have your heart set on an EOTech, skip the 5XX series and get yourself and XPS. You'll be glad you did.

I agree with the guys that recommended the Strikefire. A really nice sight for the price and little practical difference to the Aimpoint that is 3x the price. I also like the Bushnell holosight instead of the Eotech. It IS an Eotech, for half the price.

That's why we have the luxery of an expanded market, because guys like you and I completely disagree. I'm not looking to shoot golfballs, this sight is for both eyes open hitting center mass on multiple targets. If I decide to hunt or let me nephew hunt with it, I will mount a 1.5-5.

$4-500 gives you a red dot that will work under use, not just range shooting. It also gives you a sight that isnt a battery gobbling monster, and battery life isnt usually an issue.

Once youve shot a red dot and understand them, other than a "use specific" type rifle, I really dont see how you'd want anything else. I have one AR that has a traditionally mounted scope, a Leupold 1.5x5, which works very well, but even on 1.5x, its not near as handy as my AR's with their Aimpoints mounted. The 1.5x5 is actually on an ARMS lever mount too, and I have a pre zeroed Aimpoint on a lever mount for that rifle too.

Other than maybe varmint hunting or target shooting, I myself dont really see the point of those big, heavy power scopes on the AR's. All they do is add bulk and weight, and take away from the guns handiness and usefulness, at least for me anyways.
