Shooting the old Nat'l Match Course in CMP competition here in KY and three years running at Camp Perry, I got to really like the old WWll canvas sling made for the M1 & 03A3. I reversed the sling from the normal carry mode to build the loop for my bicep and found it was every bit as good as the 1-1/4" 1907 sling normally seen in competition, and easier to get into during the limited "prep" period while setting up on the firing line. I used it with all three guns: M1, 03A3, and AR-15...and even once at Perry on a Krag in the Vintage Rifle Match...took a silver in that one at age 61 !!
For local carry while deer hunting here in KY, and a few times after elk out in Colorado, I've found it outstanding...it dries quickly if wet, is instantly adjustable, and the price is right. While it doesn't have the cache of a modern "tactical" sling, it surely is a hunter's friend and will do all that a hunter needs if a sling is used while shooting from 'position'.
