This sight paint looks too good to be true.

I know I need a tritium or otherwise illuminated front sight for an AR15. Since night vision is 10 times more than cost than I can handle and I won't be using a red dot either (EOTECH or Aimpoint, too expensive), what is your personal experience with:

1) tritium front sights
2) fiber optic front sights
3) sight paint.

The catch is that I use the COM/COT hold and even the standard AR front sight is a bit too wide. Thus those like the Trijicon front sight will NOT work. Probably will need a NM or similar. But I also need illumination...why don't they make a flip up-down front sight combo like that of the rear, of instead you get a regular post, flip it up and you get a nice tritium tip?

I do have an idea: a small N size battery hidden inside the forward grip withe wires for a micro sized LED that shines into the fiber optic front sight...

If its that dark, your gonna need a flashlight to ID your target, and some night sights.:)

You lost me there.

Ideas like this are usually best kept to yourself so someone doesn't beat you out on the patent ;). I was wiring circuits with one of those boards with all the components stuck to it when I was 10, you should get a soldering gun and give it a whirl.

Tarvis, if you use the COT hold and your front sight is too wide you won't be able to make out the target at 400m. All you will see is a big sight that will wander over the target. COT hold tends to favor a smaller front sight post so you can index the target correctly.

Not easy to explain.

Does anybody else have experiences with night AR sights?
