This sight paint looks too good to be true.

I know I need a tritium or otherwise illuminated front sight for an AR15. Since night vision is 10 times more than cost than I can handle and I won't be using a red dot either (EOTECH or Aimpoint, too expensive), what is your personal experience with:
1) tritium front sights
2) fiber optic front sights
3) sight paint.
The catch is that I use the COM/COT hold and even the standard AR front sight is a bit too wide. Thus those like the Trijicon front sight will NOT work. Probably will need a NM or similar. But I also need illumination...why don't they make a flip up-down front sight combo like that of the rear, of instead you get a regular post, flip it up and you get a nice tritium tip?
I do have an idea: a small N size battery hidden inside the forward grip withe wires for a micro sized LED that shines into the fiber optic front sight...
