my favorite

is where gloria is telling arch about how many peopke are killed by guns each year and achie said "well little girl would it make you feel any better if they were pushed out of windows?"
the producers and director tried to make archie look like a fool but i think they failed.

Carroll O'Connor

was rabidly anti-gun, more so after his addict son committed suicide with one. O'Connor was ridiculing his view of bedrock, redneck America with the Bunker character.

Yep. Chesty's right on that one. O'Connor was big-time anti. Its funny, he always played a pro gun conservative on TV. Anyone remember "Heat Of The Night" ?

All in the Family has always bothered me because it was clearly a bunch of Hollyweird elitist liberals lampooning the common man. Same reason I can't stand Garrison Keeler and his Prairie Home Companion. These people hate the common American and take every opportunity to make fun of us and put us down and we lap it up and chuckle like idiots.

I also never found All in the Family all that funny ... more sad than funny (of course I have the same problem with The Honeymooners).

I can see where they had an agenda with All In The Family. I don't see it with The Honeymooners. The latter's just classic comedy and I've always thought, as far as their work went, that Jackie Gleason and Art Carney were hilarious together. If I had more background info on Gleason's and Carney's politics, I might see it.

I don't believe there was a political agenda to The Honeymooners, I simply have the same reaction to the show (that its more sad than funny).

I just don't find dysfunctional families full of people yelling at each other to be all that funny.

yea, right.... just what we need...

A fat, bald, old, paraniod, racist, white guy as a pro 2a vioce. Oh, yea... that'll win us some votes.

Why don't we spend our time talking about the young professional, the eldrey grand ma type who refuses to be a victim, the middle aged guy with a family to protect or the guy in a wheelchair who packs as good pro 2A vioces? The war to preserve our 2a rights, and make no mistake about it, because it is a war, is furthered on our side by facts and reason. The character that is Archie Bunker is anything but. Amti's and fence-sitters read this site, make no doubts about it, and while we may not stand a chance of winning over any anti's, we can get the fence-sitters, and there is no better way to disgust a fence sitter than with the racist BS that spills from that character's mouth.

Please, for all of our sakes: Think, then speak. (or write, or type, or etc..)

Archie Bunker was a funny man,and wheather you know it or not he kinda does portray the way a good percentage of people act.

If everyone in america carried a gun crime would STOP completley. It would be a utopia of polite honest people.

I have never understood why most people dont seem to understand this concept.

No, Archie Bunker was a mean spirited caricature of what leftist elitists want you to believe a good percentage of common Americans act.

The entire purpose of his character is to discredit conservativism through ridicule and lampooning.

. . . discredit conservativism . . .

. . . purpose of his character is to discredit conservativism through ridicule and lampooning.

And then there's Boston Legal. Again, the attempt to portray the liberal stance as heroic, and the conservative stance as buffoonery.

I'm not sure they've succeeded with Denny Crane.

At our house, Denny Crane (buffoonery and all) just plain rocks.

Yeah ... kinda like Iraq, all them folks with guns really make for a nice polite society. How do you sort out the good guys with guns, from the bad guys with guns, by the color of their hat, or the names on their bumper sticker ? :scrutiny:

I happen to think if everyone had a gun and an armed robbery took place, everybody would be shooting at everybody else, once the first shot was fired.
