Are We Seeing AR Prices... CRASH???

I also keep seeing the same overpriced pre-owned AR's for sale locally. S&W M&P Sport and DPMS rifles that should cost $700 or so and people are asking $1,200.
Meanwhile, I could buy a brand new Colt 6920 at Wal-Mart right now for $1,099.

Ammo comes later in the cycle; I believe by the end of the year it will be back to normal.

AR stuff, definitely, is 99% back. The cheapest prices I EVER saw on AR stuff since I started paying attention were in the couple years after the 2008 bubble popped.

Walmart finally has Bushmaster M4-A2 Patrolman's Carbine for $997. Still haven't seen any Colt 6920's yet.

One of the local shops was trying to sell a used Colt Match for $1,700, "Now here's what you need! That's a great price!"

That was last week. Riiiiiiight. DPMS's most basic model can be had at Bass Pro for $699. Prices are closer to nromal.

Stores are stuffed with them out here in CA and they are showing up in weekly sales ads. I would say they are coming back down to earth.

$617 for a DPMS Sportical at Walmart tonight. They had a Bushmaster of some sort for $997 and one other for $800 or so but I couldn't tell what type it was. Of course there was zero ammo available.

Even though I have no desire for an AR, I am laughing at those who rushed out like a bunch of starved squirrels and paid way too much. I think many owners of the LGS that jacked the consumers are starting to feel like the realtors of the housing bubble.....

Its not so much a "crash" but a return to normal IMO.

Btw a Bushmaster AR for $997 is too much. for $100 more you can get the Colt.
I bought a Bushmaster Patrolman AR in 2011 for $850.

ammoman was advertising some 223 in the $400s yesterday i think

i finally got to buy some of those BCM BCGs yesterday. been waiting a year on them

I'm fine with the guys who went out and bought AR's during the panic. They pumped money into the gun industry (and pro-gun organizations) when it was needed most. The situation did encourage me to buy some magazines that I otherwise would have waited on when I found them at reasonable prices. For example, I bought some BX-25 10/22 magazines at the normal price from Ruger by just putting in a backorder and waiting. The people who were paying $50 for them are idiots - they were available the whole time at regular prices if you were just willing to wait a couple weeks.
At least some of the guys who bought AR-15's will keep them. Even those who don't will eventually sell them off at fair market value and some of us will get nice, lightly used AR-15's at great prices.

wally world has had the colt wmle6920 for 1067.00 and wmle6929mp-dfe for 1167.00, i bought those two in april and thats about the same price today. you can bitch about wally world all you want but their prices are close to mssp for firearmes and ammo while most of the local gunshops were upping their prices(some were/are realy upping their prices). i bought three remington golden bullet 225 round boxs of .22,s the other day for 32.66 total for all three, comes out to 675 rounds. i missed winchester m-22 black plated 500 round boxs for 25.44 including tax. if you don,t like the china crap don,t buy it, look for american made items its there you just have to be a select shopper. eastbank.

CRASH
I doubt it, more like back to normal at best. Obviously some got caught up in the panic and paid to much, there is always a new crop of shooters who get caught on the tail end of things. This is good news for the sport IMO. If we were all so astute and experienced as some claim to be there would be little evidence of growth in the sport or passion for the RTKBA. These panics educate a new group of gun owners and awake many more to possible infringements on their rights and I think the cost for that enlightenment is cheap in comparison to us staying complacent and docile in the comfort of the status quo.

I see new prices returning to normal (with the exception of the AK). The used market will fall way down when people need money for Christmas, bills or paying off the credit cards.

There were a lot that made a lot of money off of the scare. It won't be the last time either. I personally knowa guy that had 300+used GI mags and probably 80+ New PMAGS he sold each GI mag for $35 each and PMAGS for $50 each.... He bought the lot of GI mags for $800(was there when he bought them) no idea what he gave for the PMAGS but it was pre panic prices... He's old a S&W M&P15 with the small Trijicon ACOG and 500 rounds for $4000. The ammo gouges are still clinging, but it is going back to normal, slowly.

Trust me, I understand wanting something that might be outlawed, but we are our own worst enemy when it ones to these panics...

I got nib S&W 9x19 revolver for $500 out of this scare. I'm anxiously waiting for another. I go to gun shows just for entertainment and to laugh at what some other people do. It is more entertaining then reality shows or late night comedy.

Well the lessoned learned slowly for people that want guns is to get them now before this cycle all happens again.

Let's not get too bold in the "I told you it would all be okay..." We are just a handful of votes away from a total ban, and some states fell to banning...

Good point, the big win at the national level was that "they" didn't get a Super Majority. That sent some dancing in the streets but personally it scared the ____ out of me.
Here in Colorado it was worse yet and we still don't know if the gun owners are going to get their pound of flesh at the voting booth.

Lead - we were just a few handful of votes from a total ban passing the senate. There wasn't a snowball's chance in hell it was gonna pass the house.

Natchez is selling XM855 at $0.65/rd in quantities from 12,500 barrels to 2,000rds to 20rd boxes. So 5.56 ammo is available in quantity again, although at insane prices still; but a few months ago you couldn't have found 2000 rounds of factory XM855 from any retailer.

Local shop is selling PMC for $10.95 box - stopped at a small shop up the road that I've passed a thousand times over the years (when younger) but never visited - he had PMC for $9.95 box.

He actually had lots of Hornady TAP 223 - been meaning to replace the rounds in my HD gun with it for a while (but never could find), so I picked up 3 boxes of it.

The local shop is selling 1k cases of Federal 223 @ $499.95.

Gun show we had early in July was pretty well stocked up with AR's from a array of manufacturers and prices seemed to be back to where they were a year and a half ago. Saw very few AK's or Saiga's on the tables and they still seemed to be holding the high price lines. Like 6 to 8 hundred dollars for a Saiga. Way too much.
