Let me preface the story by saying in GA we can open carry or conceal carry with a Firearms License, so having one, I normally carry in regular Safariland holsters, and if I don't have a jacket, its open, with a jacket, its concealed. I prefer open carry, but thats another topic..

So I was at a local grocery store with another HighRoad member, and we are going through the check out, when one of them employees asks me: "So, are you a Sniper yet?"

I guess this is the result of open carrying a firearm to the same place over a long period of time. Note that I always have some form of radio on me (I'm a ham as well as listening to public safety).

He told me he could not be a sniper because he did not own any guns, saying he has never had a use for them. Ah well...

Gave us a great laugh :neener:

I make it a policy not to "openly" display any firearms while I am in public, such as at a grocery/7-11 type store...

As officials in the Pentagon would say...

"I will not divulge our T.T.P.'s (tactics, techniques, and or procedures)"- Secretary of Defense, Donald H. Rumsfeld

Well, I open carry for the most part, but conceal in places where I feel I need to. Such as the Flea-Market, I have heard it all there....and its tight, even with a multi-level retention holster, the flea-market seams to attract the wrong crowd, and with that many people, I just conceal.

I like the politically-challenged response, sounds kinda like G. Gordon Liddy.

If I wanted to carry, it'd have to be visable and unloaded. Stupid isn't it? Visable and unloaded. What the Hell is the point?:cuss:

One can still be a sniper and not own any guns. Military and LEO par example.

To quote Tom Selleck as Quigley, "I said I never had much use for one. I never said I didn't know how!":D

If you can carry concealed, why carry openly when it can cause you more harm than good? You give up an element of surprise, and you're likely to attract the attention of people who are not at all intimidated that you're armed -- such as mentals, drunks, druggies, and gang members.

It never causes me any harm, really. Also, in environments where I think I need an element of surprise, I do conceal. I don't really give it much thought, thats what I love about living in Georgia and not the PRK. Here, its not a big deal to walk around armed...about the only thing I get from most people is "nice H&K"...
