Are you lucky enough to own your "dream" rifle?

Damn it 50 Freak!! Get outta my dream!!

Yeah, my dream gun is the venerable M41A Pulse rifle.
Yeah, I'll never get it (a real one anyway).

Right now it's the FS2000. But $2200ish is a bit steap to replace my M17S. I'm still infatuated with the Barrett Mod 82 ever since I saw one back in '92. If I had had the $3k they were asking back then I would have bought it. Hard to swing that kind of dough at 18 years old for a toy.

I have dream rifles for specific roles. I built my dream varmint gun. An Oly Arms K8 Mag in 243 WSSM with a DPMS stainless lower. Still would like a prettier stock and nicer scope for it though. So it's not quite complete.

Where is Carlos Hathcocks service rifle ?? anyone ??

Does anyone know where Carlos Hathcocks service rifle is really at. :what:

Very good question xjax - thanks -

lucky enough to own my dream rifle?....yes...and no. i mean, this is like the pot O' gold at the end of the rainbow, once you get there, you ain't there anymore !!!! know what i mean ?

P.S. hathcocks service rifle.....cool,man, i shoulda thought of that !

Wow I love that .223 Cooper that esheato has. I would love one of those!

It is a beauty! And the bolt is even on the correct side!

As far as my dream gun, probably will never own it. I will come close, get the gun and the dream gets replaced. I am always 1 gun behind my dream.

Double Barrel Bolt Action Schezi and Fuchs

I probably butchered "schezi", but I really don't remember how to spell it properly.

You read right, though. I want a Double Barrel Bolt Action chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum. Octogon barrels, all the fancy engraving, ect. All in all, it would cost me probably around $75k.

I guess I have a common man's dream rifle. Some of your contributions are outstanding. Thanks for all the pics!!!!

(Hathcock's rifle huh? Intriguing)

PS - I am still 100% satisfied -though your pictures ARE enticing

Nope.

I want a military-style Mauser (probably an M48, since they're available) converted to fire .376 Steyr, with a low-profile scout rail and flip-up BUIS mounted on the rear receiver ring and the end of the barrel.

That aside, I have Oodles of concepts I hope will see the light of day sometime before I die (I'm only 20 yet).

I aim small. :)

Nope :( not a huge dreamer either. Just want an XCR with an eotech a nice vertical grip and some rail covers.

... not a huge dreamer either. Just want an XCR...
I've been all over the map with my "dream rifle" for the last few months.

I, too, am not a big dreamer. I currently own only one rifle - my CZ452 - but am sorely dreaming of a deer rifle (to replace the Marlin 336 I sold over a decade ago to pay the rent during a time of financial stress).

Unlike many on this fine forum, my "dream" rifle is an EDC (every day carry), of sorts. It's the one that I dream about using to put food on the table (in the form of venison, along with squirrel meat from my CZ452).

My dream rifle is a dream at this point because I'm so poor (new alternative business owner struggling to keep the business afloat) that I can only dream about it right now.

The upside is, I've had LOTS of time to explore my options. I've participated in more THR threads - some started by me - than Bayer has aspirins. I've read tons and tons of reviews about tons and tons of rifles and rnds.

Along the way, I've had several dream rifles that could fill that spot.

One of them was a Remington XCR. That was in part from handling one at the gun store.

Da-um! that is one fine gun, at least judging from the way it feels. It had one of the smoothest actions I felt. The stock felt solid, indestructable and fit me really well.

It may not be as nice as a $75K double barreled magnum (which I have no personal use for though I don't begrudge anyone for wanting such a beautiful tool), but it would meet my needs nicely.

I've mostly ruled an XCR out now because: 1) I don't want a barrel that long (I'm looking at 18" - 22" barrels; why is OT for this thread); and 2) it's not available in either caliber I've decided on (.308 or 7mm08).

But it's still worthy of dreams.

Living In The Past

Any Model 70 in any chambering, built to Griffin & Howe standards, and built by me.

Don't want to be a thread killer, but my suggestion is to buy a reloading press (if you don't have one) and shoot the crap out of what you have. After having bought dozens of "dream" rifles, using and being good with what you have is more important. YMMV
Redneck2 made the best comment. I am learning the importance of this as well. Make sure you can use the weapons you have very well.

Of course, I have a few dream rifles as well: 50 cal M2, nice 5.45 AK (within reach), FAL to compare to my other .308's, a real accurate bolty in 30.06 or 308. This is more of a wish list, except may be the M2.

They don't really make the rifle that would be my dream rifle. I'd like a .260 Rem with a 20" fluted bull barrel and H.S. Precision composite stock, from one of the better bolt action makers. Unfortunately, this chambering and configuration is not popular.

The SA58 I will buy next time I get the chance to go to guns galore is my dream rifle. Wrong forum, but my 1911 was and still is my #1 dream gun.

Surefire, you've got it right. My .260 Remington is built on a Remington 700 ADL short action with a slim contour 22" barrel. Receiver and bolt handle skelatonized, bolt spiral fluted, compo/camo stock. With 3-9 x 40 Leupold VX III, it comes in at 6lb, 1oz. Priced high, but handles and shoots as a dream should.

My dream rifle is truely unattainable. I want Carlos Hathcocks service rifle. Oh well I can dream with the best of um!!

Good one! I got a little goose pimply thinking about that one.

My dream is the authentic Red Rider BB gun. But I have been told I'll shoot my eye out. :what: :D

PS. I would sacrifice my old lady for that H&H WOW.

My dream rifle...

I traded way back in the 70's like a complete moron. It was passed on to me by my brother who got it from my father. It was a Czech VZ24 based 30-06 sporter. Reasonably accurate, kinda heavy and I am in shame I traded it off soon out of high school. I learned about reloading with it and remember it well. I wonder if I could track it down now. I know there are better but I would dearly love to get it back. Wish I knew how...

To punish myself I did order a Wild West GunsCoPilot in SS and with a 16 and a tad barrel adn still have a month or 2 to wait.

Hoss, if you are out there, can I buy my 3006 back? Please!? Cash money awaits...

Patty
