Arizona gun law question

Just moved to Arizona, everything I've seen on the web says "yes" under the question "do you need a permit to carry a handgun"

however the only actual permit I've been able to find, is the CCW and that was on the Dep of Public Safety website.

so whats the skinny, do I need a permit to open carry?

Open carry is legal, you need a permit for a CCW.

No need to have a permit to open carry. You just have to be cognizant of where you can and cannot carry.

CCW is easy to get. Pay the price, take the class and the rest is history.

Get your CCW at Caswell's in Mesa. The instructor I had there made it a very enjoyable experience. --Assuming you are even going to get a CCW that is.

What's a "permit to carry?" Is that some kind of greenhorn eastern bureaucratic bull?

Never heard of any such thing out here in Arizona.

With the popularity of CCW, open carry is kind of rare in the Phoenix Metro area.

I have't actually tried it myself, since I have a CCW, but I would expect some stares and possible questions depending on how you present yourself and where you go.

I used to do it a lot before we had CCW, didn't phase most people. mind you there are alot more californians here now so you may get a different response doing in now.
