Any body have any experience with Armscor pistols - specifically the 1911A1 clones. Centerfire has these in .38 Super for $339 and that's awfully tempting.

I have a had a couple of them. A 1911 full size (Hi-standard) and the RIA 1911 compact. Still have the compact. Sold the FS to buy the compact. No problems with either of them after break in.

Thanks. I've got a 70/Mk IV with everything I need to shoot .22, 9mm, .38S and .45ACP, but the idea of a dedicated .38S has always appealed to me, I just couldn't afford the freight on any of the Colts I saw.

Same thing as the RIA and mine has been excellent and reliable despite my hapless tinkering with it.

Rough edged quality in fit and finish, bare bones design, and not exactly gorgeous, but they flat out work.

Well, not a pistol...but I did buy an Armscor Model 200 .38 SPCL revolver last month from Centerfire Systems for $159. They shipped it USPS and I got it in 2 days. I am very happy with it. It's a well made gun. Very comfortable to shoot.

Use the search, I've posted about my Armscor45 and 1911-A2 widebodies.

Great guns, unbelievable low price for the quality.

I picked up an Armscor 45 for my brother inlaw when He jioned my family. It's a rock solid gun. It did some hand fitting and such but I have seen series 70 colts that needed more, at least it's re-coil spring bore was centered. Along with the fitting I did add a Wilson spring kit including Wilson mainspring, beaver tail safety, and extended safety.

My Rock Island Arms/Twin Pines 1911A1 is possibly the best purchase I've ever made. Its accuracy is identical to my $700 Kimber Classic Custom and more reliable with 185gr & 200gr LSWCs.

I bought mine from SOG for $279 before the $20 price increase. Still, at $299 it's an unbelievably sweet deal!

I have an RIA, great gun for the money. A new set of sights and some filing of sharp edges made it a fantastic carry gun (I can see 1911-snobs groaning now). I think Armscor makes a quality piece.

And yes Armscor is working with STI on the new Spartan. It's an Armscor slide and frame machined by Armscor and fitted with STI internals, final assembly is going on here in the USA at STI. Looking forward to those pieces making it down to dealer shelves, I hope to pick one up sometime next year.

that must be some family. Arming your BIL is a heck of a nice way to welcome him to your family. I like it. Too bad I'm happily married or I'd ask you if you had any more sisters. Do you also practice this custom, with your friends?:D BOT The RIAs are more expensive in my area and I haven't seen one for less than $400.00. I am going to get one in the near future. I've heard mostly good things about them.

Acualy He is my wifes younger brother. Have a sister and there is a reason she's still single at 40 and not because she plays on the same side of the street.

There was no way He could be part of "MY" family and not have hardware. Since then He has bought his first deer rifle Mod70 in 7mm WSSM.

One of the first things I got my wife before she was even my wife was a Colt Agent, Hogue grip and three speed loaders fill with Corbon +P's.

I have been thinking about getting one of thier base models for myself. It alot cheaper then the springfield GI model and just as sparten. I would leave it alone for the retro feel
