I keep updated on this gun, and I anxiously await its introduction into the market. FYI, the video doesn't mention that they are making a semi-auto variant for civvies.

I think the biggest argument i'll get against this decision is from the pistol-caliber AR crowd. I have a 5.56 AR carbine that I love, but I want something that's buffer tube-less and integrally suppressed. and one of the variants they have fits the bill. Frankly, I would want one in .45, but even the 9mm would be very cool when suppressed and topped with a good red dot. The integrally suppressed on is VERY cool, how the suppressor baffles themselves are known as the "flash suppressor", so you can pick up one without it being NFA until you decide to get the "sleeve" that converts the "flash hider" into a functioning suppressor.

Also, I just want something that's different. IMO, the pistol-caliber AR's just don't seem right (they're a lot like a Mustang/Camaro/Challenger with a V6, i'm sure i'll make a lot of people angry with that comment ), and the Hi-Points and Beretta CX4's just don't do it for me. I'm sure they're all fantastic, but I don't think i'm alone on this one. Granted the MSRP is ridiculous (something like $2100, but that's including a carbon fiber foregrip and a Sig red dot, which I know are not cheap), but I think this would be a wonderful little rifle. I'm still under the impression that they WILL come out a with a .45 eventually if this takes off at all (which I hope it will), and a .45 carbine with a fully collapsible stock, integrally suppressed, red dot and will have minimal problems feeding and throwing "Flying Shotglass" .45ACP hollowpoints will just OOZE with coolness.

What are your thoughts? Am i wasting my breath, or are you pining for one like me?

I just read an article in G&A, and the .45 ACP is somewhat in the "works" no official word though, but the author of the article was throwing the idea at SIG. So I imagine they must something up their sleeve, but the 9mm still isnt on the market yet, so i'm guessing they're going to see how sales are before dumping more money into a .45 ACP model.

I want an MPX-C very bad, and the upside is, I don't think a simple aluminum (or at least i think its aluminum) sleeve for the "muzzlebrake" would cost much, thus making it more appealing to register for $200. But $2100 is a bit steep for a pistol-caliber carbine. Hopefully it will drop to the $1500 range, although, I'm not going to count on it. However, we shall see. I think SIG will do very well in the LE field with this, but the military might be a different story. They're so jumbled up with switching gear, it takes FOREVER to standardize any equipment across the board, especially small arms. it will most likely fall into the hands of special ops units before anyone even hears about it.

What a strange thing for SIG to get into now. I guess they're trying to capture the geriatric MP5 market. Maybe they think they can bring back the submachine gun from the grave.

I was at a gun store the other day, asked about this and the employee went to look it up. Came back and said that its a LEO and Military gun right now, didn't show when they would be released to the public.

I can't see the sales being higher on the other side, civvie market would buy up more then they could make. Carbines are still liked by a lot of people, heck I know I want one. Just have to see how I can get it by the wife.

+1

I still don't 'get' these semi-auto sub-guns with a 16 inch barrel. Without the NFA SBR silliness I think they'd be great for home defense (especially if suppressors weren't NFA), bear defense while hiking, basically they'd be the PDW they were meant to be.

Uh...er...they're pistol caliber. And I don't see that including .44 Mag, .454, .500 S&W...

No bear defense medicine here.

Well, you buy the one with "the stupid brake" (which are in fact suppressor baffles) for the sole intention of making it integrally suppressed...

I was but decided not to wait and got a 553p. Very happy. I may still get an mpx at some point, when available

I know what it is for. With the current political climate, I wont be getting any stamps until Obummer is gone. Without a can, the brake is just unneeded and ugly.

I really like the gun. If it had a conventional non-nfa barrel, I would be excited. Even a 14.5" barrel with a pinned/welded FH would be awesome.

different strokes and all that.

Not my cup of tea. Even if the price dropped to $1,500, a guy could still have a pretty bangin' AR carbine with readily available accessories up the wazoo instead.
It might be cool if it was in the budget AR range and chambered for 5.7x28. I think that round may catch on a little more if there was a decent budget rifle available for it in the $500-$600.

Agreed. And it really may come off as constructive possession, like AK-with-FA-parts-kit-and-drill-press-with-correct-drill-bits-installed but your'e not ACTUALLY going to drill it :)

And ditto goon, I still think it priced itself out of the market. I mean, I want an MP5-style 9mm pretty bad, but not *that* bad...that's putting me in M1A range

They're not the only ones. Taurus is doing it too. I don't get it. Beretta tried it and I haven't seen one of those in the stores for a long time. There just doesn't seem to be that big of a market for them these days. If you have to go non-sbr and non-select fire.....it kind of takes the fun/utility out of it....at least for me.

Having been a Beta tester for Sig America's rifles twice now, I think I would rather have my wisdom teeth removed with rusty pliers.
I see no good comming of this.

Some people will love it, some people will hate it. The AR-15 wasn't immediately loved when it first showed up on the store shelves.... New generations like different things. This could be a hit or miss, but I don't see it dying overnight.

Hmm. Noted. Any particular experiences that gave you the viewpoint? Now I'm interested :)

Still not seeing why that should cost $2100 or even $1500 when Colt can build an AR that uses an honest-to-God locking system to fire a much more powerful round for $1,100. And PSA can do it for $800.
