Working on a Ruger 10/22, applied some Acraglass gell to my Fajen thumbhole sporter and I'm not sure where it went wrong but it sure did.
Thought for a few minutes I had a barrelled reciever permanately glued to the stock but I finally got it loose.
I was out of the Brownells release agent so I used paste wax. Couldn't find any Johnsons so I used Turtle Wax brand.
It looks like most of the Acraglass squeezed up into the barrel channel (Had a silly putty dam 2" from the receiver). The glass stuck to the receiver where tha action screw goes in, took out a chunk of wood when the action finally came out. Wood was still stuck to the metal.
What I've got now is 2" of bedded barrel channel, no bedding in the receiver part of the stock and some glass stuck to the reciever itself.
Guessing I need to "hog" out some more wood at the bottom of the stock and try it again using something different as release agent.
Somehow the threaded bushing that holds the reciever screw in the stock got messed up, threads are messed up. had a heckofa
time getting the screw out, it had glass stuck to it too despite a good coating of wax.
Suggestions greatly appreciated!!!
