About 2 years ago I bought a cheap $4 gun show knife. A year ago or so I bought a nice Kershaw Scallion assisted opener and I was happy with that. Well, recently I decided I needed another knife or two. Earlier this week (or was it late last week) I bought a Boker "Original Bowie" knife with a nice stag horn handle. Today I just bought a W.R. Case folder (a hunting folder). Really nice looking wood and brass grips, 3 interchangable blades, very solid feel, good solid lockback lock. Really nice knife. Then about 2 hours later I went to Walmart and bought a Kershaw Vapor II folder with a partially serrated blade. Next paycheck I think I'll be picking up a USMC Ka-bar (or I might get one of the commemerative US Army Ka-bars). Man, this is going to get expensive.:D

Hmm, anyone have some suggestions for nice quality but inexpensive defensive folders, wood handled folders, and fixed blades? Are the Winchester knives any good (I like the looks)? There goes a part of the new gun fund.

Oh boy.
Wait until you get into custom knives!
I mentioned in another post that cold steel knives are nice for the price/workmanship.
Some dislike them, others hate them.
I love 'em!
Have a cold steel recon tanto. very happy with that one, got it for $55.00.
The voyager series has been great too.
Also have a couple of CRKT's, cheap, but fuctional. Will save your life if need be.
Plus, for the price, you lose it, no tears shed just buy another.
Spyderco's nice too. Actually, there's a lot out there!
I have an old buck folder, wood slab handles, soild construction. It'll last a lifetime.

Yup that sound right that what happened to me First Guns, Then Knives, Now it is Surefire's.. :( Boy I wish I had more money..:D

I just broke my addiction to knives, custom and production. What makes it worse is the lack of regulation (can buy almost anything anytime you want) and the lower prices compared to guns (although I have some customs that cost as much as some of my guns).

It doesn't help to find makers like Gene Ingram who makes a damn fine hunting knife for a very low price. I bought one for my Father-in-law for X-Mas last year and have regretted it since. I want one for myself now.

I think smoking crack would be cheaper...

:cuss: :banghead: :cuss: Thanks alot mtnbkr! 'til now I hadn't heard of Gene Ingram. My addiction hasn't been hasn't been broken yet. Now I gotta have one of those too!:D :p :D Thanks for the link. I've added that #1 with the green micarta to my wish list. Kinda reminds me of my Bark River:

You are done now. Don't even fight it! When I go to a Gun and Knife show I spend at least one hour playing with as many as I could and end up going home with one or two. CRKT has alot of neet stuff for a good price also Kershaw and Spyderco and many more!

You can't go wrong with Gene Ingram's knives. What he has on his sight is a small glimpse of what he's capable of. Go to www.bladeforums.com and do a search on his name. He posts a knife every other month or so in the "for sale" forums. Recently, he had a beautiful model with stained cowbone handles.

Another nice thing about his knives is that they come razor sharp. Many makers don't do that (oh, they're sharp, but not hair poppin' razor sharp). His knives are good cutters and good lookers.

I bought 3 surefires and 2 Benchmades in the past 3 months , but I think I am back to guns. I pick one up Saturday.

Yeah they are! The ones I like are usually between $70 and $400 so seem easier to do than $500-1000 of a gun, and are easier to buy impulsively since I have to wait 10 days for a :cuss: gun, and pay all sorts of silly taxes, do paperwork, etc.

Have you ever heard of Surfire?
I haven't started those yet, though I do have quite a few flashlights now (mostly Maglites and a neat little Brinkman LED flashlight among others).

I occasionally smoke cigars but I wouldn't say I collect them. Pipes on the other hand... That can be an expensive hobby fast (though if you are well disciplined it doesn't have to be). Pipes range from about $5-10 for the cheapest machine made pipes to $500 or more for a nice handmade pipes. Most of mine are in the $40-100 range.

Hmm, now after this conversation I have to excuse myself. I need to get to Bass Pro Shop for another light (I do need a good keychain light that I can always have on my person "just in case") and knife and to Faders for another pipe (I wonder if I can finally find a nice Calabash).
