ATF Awards New Gun Contracts

Looks like both Smith and Wesson and Glock were awarded new contracts by the ATF for thier replacement .40 pistols. I like both platforms with a slight edge to the Glock, however, I am glad to see the M&P making in-roads into the LE community.

awesome glad to see that the m&p is getting the nod from a fed agency. In .40 i would defeintly have to say i prefer the m&p, if it was a m&p vs g19, then the 19 would be my choice, however that is not the case.

Considering the M&P line was created for the Military trials it's good to see someone in the Government appreciates their efforts. I think the M&P is a good reliable handgun. I'm surprised Glock got a contract since their pistols don't have an external safety. I'm not saying they should, only that the Government thinks so. That's why Glock wasn't considered in the Military trials.

Yep, the M&P's did fine during the DEA testing last year, which involved some rigorous testing conditions, and were placed on their approved list for personal purchase and usage both on & off-duty.

Now they passed the BATFE testing.

We're going to see increasingly more of the M&P pistols series, and deservedly so.
