So the law provides that military members can purchase firearms through NICS and FFLs with a valid current copy of orders assigning the individual to that state.
But what about temporary orders to a different state?
For instance, Soldier X is a resident of Maine but stationed in state Texas on orders to Ft. Hood. He can buy a gun in Maine (his state of residence), and he can also buy a gun in Texas with a copy of his orders and military ID. This is well established.
But say he is put on temporary orders (TDY) to Arizona for training. Can he buy a gun legally while on orders there?
