I just received a new P2000 9mm with night sights for $705 shipped. The store I bought it from sells lots of them so the turnover is very high. That's why I was suprised when I saw it had a date code of AE (2004). I was expecting an AF, as 2 months ago I ordered a USP40f from them and it was an AF.

I'm wondering if you P2000 owners could describe, or post pics of, the version of recoil system in your P2000. I know HK has used a few different types of recoil systems for the P2000.

The one in mine has a flat spring that looks like a Glock recoil spring with a polymer bushing that rides on the outside of the spring. The bushing is free to move baack and forth.

The other kind that I have seen has two different sized springs and a polymer buffer underneath the spring that is closest to the muzzle. I think the spring on this version that is closest to the barrel locking lugs is made of round wire, while the spring that is closest to the muzzle end is flatish/squarish.

Which one do you have and what is the date code on your P2000? Which is the newest system?

Well, I just got an AF USP compact, and it has the same kind of recoil spring U have in your 2000. Sorry, that's as close as I can come to your answer.

I have AF P2000 40. the spring is flat with white polymer bushing.

As I understand it (that's a hint, I'm no expert) the Full Size USPs differ from the compacts (and the P2000s) in this regard - the Full Size has the double-spring arrangement (for advanced recoil management) while the smaller compacts and 2000s use a single spring due to space constraints.

Yea, the fullsize USPs are totally different. I'm wondering about the difference between the fullsize P2000s and the P2000SKs. But I called HK today and spoke with a guy who's name escapes me now, but he said they had used more than one type of recoil system in the P2000 over time. Maybe we misunderstood eachother, or maybe he didn't know what he was talking about. All I know is that everyone who's responded to my question on a number of different forums has said they have the recoil system with the floating buffer. However, everyone who responded, and also listed their date code, has had either an AE or AF date code. I'd be curious to hear from others who have a earlier date code.

I just found out that a P2000 with date code of AC has the system that all others with newer guns have said they had. I guess the dual spring recoil system is just on the P2000SK. I guess the guy at HK didn't know what he was talking about, or I misunderstood him.
