What the heck happen to gunauction.com (formerly auctionarms.com) ???

I did a search on "rifles" and it came back with just under 3,000 rifles for sale or auction. For handguns (semi and revolver), the number was just over 3,000. This is like 5% of Gunbroker!

I remember when the site was a real competitor to Gunbroker.com but it seems that when they changed their name to gunauction.com that was the beginning of the end. I must be getting old.

Are there any other high volume firearm auction sites out there?

I have been wondering that for years now. Used to find something there once in a while. Pretty much quit looking there because nothing I am interested in. Like the mandatory 3 day inspection thing though. Wish Gunbroker would go to that.

Someone mentioned GunsAmerica as an auctioun site

but isn't that site, while a good one I think, all fixed price items?

Gunbroker has captured the market for the most part. It's one of the few places I go to deal in guns with people outside of my area. Gunauction.com is fine for the harder to find collectibles, but they're not mainstream any more. I pretty much lost interest in the site a couple years ago.

no. it is both , if you just want to see the auction guns you have to click on the auction tab on the upper left and search , other wise the site shows all guns fixed and auction .

I used to use gunauction.com quiet a bit, and used to find a lot of good deals on there. There is a lot of back and forth in the gunauction.com forums about the decline of the site, it seems that a lot of sellers were being unnecessarily belligerent in the gunauction.com forums about their opinions....coupled with the lack of bidder ID verification....it seems a lot of sellers got run off by deadbeat bidders that were actually just pissed off forum members who created a fake account to shill bid on sellers who were A-holes in the forum.

I'm no shill bidder, but I voluntarily discontinued my membership to Gunauction.com with a perfect bid history of over 25 gun purchases because a seller I disagreed with in the forum started posting my personal info to the forum, then my family's personal info, addresses, facebook pages, etc...with an unfortunate lack of response by Gunauction.com staff. He got the info from a forum buddy that I had bought something off of.
Stuff like that brought the site down, IMO. Having an open forum with minimal oversight was just not a good idea for a commerce based website.
Gunauction.com now has the same policy as gunbroker.com as far as needing a credit card to verify ID before bidding because of this problem and subsequent decline in traffic

At least, thats what I got out of it from my time there. You can still find good stuff, but there are not anywhere near the sellers there once was.

mgmt there went out of their way to piss off both buyers and sellers and are now reaping the harvest of what they sowed.
