There is one in my local shop, it looks good it has that classic (if not totally historically accurate) look that if I were to buy a 1911 pistol is what I would want. BUT the finish seems to be wearing off just with the usul handling a gun gets from lookie-loos.

Is this indicitive of poor quality throughout? Or maybe a badly finished batch got past the supposed high level Kahr QC.?

I've googled the model and searched THR but there is no info vis-a-vis a finish problem.

I've read good things about this model and IF I were to buy one I might get this one.

So I'm looking for comments here.

What can be done about a finish problem? Is this something the factory can fix? should I ask for a discount?

Should I even worry about it at all?

I'd steer clear of the Auto Ordnance 1911s. A Springfield GI runs in the same price range and is a much better pistol.

Springfield Mil specs and Gi models are the base guns of some well known and respected 1911 custom smiths, none of whom would use an Auto Ordnance to build on. ;)

warren - I bought one last month, and while I'm satisfied with it now, I probably would've been happier with a springfield milspec.

Mine had an immediate problem with the slide stop working it's way out during firing... every three or so rounds fired I'd have to pause to push the slide stop back in. AO worked very well with me to fix it, first they sent out a new slide stop and when that didn't fix it, then they sent out a new plunger spring and caps set. I've had no further problems with the slide stop working its way out.

I also should've researched it a little more thoroughly before ordering one. It came with a Colt Series 80 style firing pin safety. While, not a bad thing in and of itself, I was a little surprised to see it on a "WWII reproduction" gun.

Since I've gotten the slide stop problem fixed it's been an excellent shooter and it's an extremely accurate gun for this price range!
