teach her proper technique to rack a slide. my 5'3", 120lb gf can rack even the heavy ass slide on my cz-82 without issue. (yes, i know some people have cz's with easy to rack slides. not mine, for whatever reason)

Guys, the issue presented by the OP was solved over 10 posts ago. But then I suppose the ones who didn't bother to read the thread won't bother to read this post...

Question...

May I ask ... why are you or why is she set on a semi-auto? There are MANY VERY RELIABLE revolvers out there that are just as, if not more, concealable as a semi.

If she is very petite and having trouble racking the slide as you say ... not that she can't do it but that she is having difficulty with it ... then I would agree with ZeroDefect and Cocojo and get a nice clean light revolver!

God Forbid that this young lady is ever required to use the gun and in the heat of the moment cannot get the gun to cycle properly. I REALLY like S&W revolvers and would recommend a J-Frame Airlight.

You need a gun that, when you're attacked, can be operated and used without thinking.

HOPE IT HELPS! Take Care & Be Safe!

My wife carries either a HK P7M8, Walther P99c or a Model 36 "J" Frame. All are small, compact and easy to conceal in a purse or holster. She prefers the HK due to the simplicity of operation and the fact that it's 100% reliable and dead on accurate. Stoked with Fed HST 147+P, I feel pretty comfortable when she's out and about running errands. I make sure that I take her to the range at least once a month. For carry rigs she prefers the Alessi CQC/S or Nossars Snap Pancake.

Another option is some of the smaller caliber Berettas (Tomcat?) that have flip-up barrels. In this option, she'll never have to rack a slide and it's not a revolver.

My wife has pretty severe arthritis in her wrists and fingers, so slide manipulation and recoil were major concerns. She uses a Taurus 24/7 in 9mm with no problems. Loading ammo into the magazines is a problem unless she uses a loader.

FWIW, it matters how she holds it to rack the slide. She should be PUSHING backwards with the slide hand, not PULLING the slide back.
