Do you ever purchase online? It's even getting difficult to find on some of the websites I peruse. www.natchezss.com is where I buy the majority of what I get anymore as well as www.cabelas.com and www.midwayusa.com from time to time.

I agree, it is hugely frustrating.
Even worse the scarcity breeds more scarcity, since, it you find several boxes when looking for one, you tend to buy more.
And, since the scarcity is driving up the price, there's "sticker shock" to deal with, too. I pu;;ed out a box of S&B .380 with a $7.85 price tag--makes a harsh comparison to the $18.95 price I saw on some UMC the other day.
Calm ought to be the order of the day--but it can be hard to remain calm when all around is chaos and franticness.

I agree. I've had trouble finding ammo since the election. However at a large Tulsa gunshow weekend before last, I noticed what seemed to me to be improving supplies of ammo. Maybe the corner's been turned and supply is beginning to catch up with demand/stockpiling. Prices were still outlandish, but there seemed to be ample supplies of everything. At least at that one show.
I was able to order 2000 rds of 45acp and 2000 rds of 40s&w from www.ammuntiontogo.com went by to pick it up locally and its a 100x40 metal building stacked floor to ceiling with cases of ammo hope this helps

There was a list posted somewhere on the forums about online dealers that do good work.
I found some .45 Speer Gold Dots in the 230 grain at Cabelas... but am wrestling in agony about it because I dont know if my pistol is a short enough barrel to handle these short rounds.
Other sites indicate a few more weeks until fresh supplies get delivered.
Ive taken to carrying a hundred dollars in my wallet just to pounce on ammo wherever I find it.
In the meantime feeding two shotguns 12 and 20 gauge Brennekes are VERY easy supply wise.
Hell, Ive gone on ammo hunts for .45 ACP in 5 seperate shops several times per month. I know there are at least 12 also doing the same. Sigh LOL.

I ordered 500 rounds of 180 grain FMJ 10mm, 500 rounds of 124 grain FMJ 9mm and 100 rounds of 180 grain Gold Dot JHP 10mm from Georgia Arms on November 20. Last week they emailed me and said if I would be willing to accept 165 grain bullets on the 10mm they could ship this week. 9mm still on backorder.

I look every time I go into any store that carries ammo. The price is as low as it is going to go. What is in stock is the question. I am purchasing ammo every week now. Last week I purchased:
a). 22 Magnum-300 rounds
b). 22 LR - Brick of Winchester Wildcat for plinking.
c). 22 LR - Remington 'Gold' 550 round bonus box for my two Walther P22's.
d). 357 Magnum - Winchester white box in 110 gr. JHP's.
All were bought at Wally-World. The selection was not good on any day last week. The clerk said he has only received one case of .25 Auto this week. He indicated that they send what they have from the warehouse, it really does not do much good to place an order, the warehouse is down on inventory as well.
My inventory is down too:
7.65X54R = 1662 rds
7.62X39 = 2463 rds
.45 acp = 1459 rds
22 mag = 677 rds
9x18 = 1211 rds
22 LR = 2535 rds

At the range today I was told regarding .380 that they received a case yesterday and sold all of it to a member that had spoken for it a month ago. When I asked how many people were happy about that decision versus selling it to a couple dozen members a couple of boxes at a time, they said "the early bird gets the worm". To which I replied, "Guess where I am going to shop when the shelves are full again one of these days and thanks for nothing." I bet I'll see the guy that got the worm at the gunshow this weekend with the price doubled too.

I expect the ammo shortage to quit once all of us run out of free cash on hand
Surely the recently reported increased gun sales drove increased ammo sales. And surely our mutual paranoia of newly elected folks in D.C. also drove ammo sales. But I seriously doubt that lead expended thru all of our gun barrels has increased so much recently, especially since this is winter season.
So my theory is that ammo availability will get back to normal in two months or so. And I know that I am fully stocked with ammo since I share the mutual paranoia
That is unless the folks that screwed with the commodities-futures-market to drive gasoline prices up during the past 4 years are now screwing with the commodities futures price of lead and brass. And to be honest, I would not doubt that this is the *real* reason that ammo is scarce.
I have a nice discount retailer called Bi-Mart here in Oregon. And I have to say that I love their ammo prices since they are usually 2/3 the price of even the online bulk retailers. Their ammo shelves have been 95% empty, with only bizarre calibers on the shelf. Though Bi-Mart is fully stocked with .22LR, though the price is 3X what it was 8 years ago.
Another funny shortage is primers. If you reload you know what I'm talking about.

Went to the local gun shop yesterday and he had eight cases of Federal 9mm FMJ for $220.00 per case. I picked up a case and also picked up 5,000 primers.
Went to Bass Pro three days ago and actually saw three boxes of 380 automatic. Other people there were even commenting on how rare that was to see. I didn't need it, so I didn't buy it......

Just picked up a new Browning Buck Mark Hunter at a local shop today (beautiful gun; absolutely beautiful) and thought I'd get some mini mags to take to the range with me torrow for a trail run. Clerk: "I've got the gun, all right. But ammo? Not on your life. Not mini mags, anyway."

You might see me. I'm the guy picking up brass in the ranges and buying up the powder and primers while everybody is looking for loaded ammo. I build my own. Its cheaper. So far I haven't had any issues finding stock. I know I am not the only guy doing this but at the ranges it seems that people still look at me funny. Probably because I'm smiling so much while I'm doing it.

I remained patient, and a couple of weeks later they appeared on my back porch. They charge once for shipping but will send you one box if it comes in before the other at no extra shipping charge. I have been able to find ammo locally, but I was curious about ordering it on line.

You have to quit calling and go looking. Last week I was buying target shells (12 and 20 guage) when I overheard the salesperson tell a customer on the phone they had 8 boxes of .40sw. That reminded me I needed pistol ammo as well, so I bought 4 boxes for myself. The next guy was getting .223 and .308. I suspect by the time the person on the phone arrived the pistol ammo was gone again.

I just got in 500 rounds of Wichester 9mm 115 gr H.P.from BASS PRO SHOP, it had been on backorder for almost 2 months. Also have ammo on backorder from Sportmans Guide and Midsouth Shooters Supply. If anyone is looking for Sig 239 9mm Mags Midway has them in stock both 8 and 10 round.

I figured out my local WW's schedule for ammo shipments and haven't had any problems filling my ammo crates.

I'm gonna try and ride out this ammo shortage by practicing with my .22. I have a few mags worth of JHP and a few buckshots for home defense purposes so I'm good with that. I'm just hoping that wallyworld doesn't raise prices in the near future so when they do get inventory, it isn't 50% higher.

I spent most of last year reloading .223, .308, and 45 and 9mm all I will say is that I will not have to worry about ammo for three to four years hopefully the shortage will be over by then.
Better to have and not need then to need and not have.

I just left Dick's Sporting Goods in McDonough Ga. and their shelves are full of all major calibers.
