IMHO, the AWB all comes down to Bush. If he does not want it passed, we'll see him motivate party leaders to wheel and deal and even strong arm RINO's if neccessary. You may recall the Bush Medicare bill several months back when they kept the vote open 3 hours past the lawful deadline to strongarm the holdouts. When the President wants something bad enough, he has many means of negotiation. I'm just concerned that he wants the industry immunity more than the the sunset of the AWB.

I doubt the NRA and other gun groups have ponied up as much cash as the drug companies and HMO's did to get their law but I'll be the first to praise the President if he makes an actual stand on principle and torpedoes the AWB instead of dealing it for the industry immunity.

Should be some good drama today, saw one prediction of a tie with the tie breaker going to Cheney.

I think you underestimate the number of Representatives who will never let a bill with the AWB see the floor for discussion. It will never get out of committee. The Liability relief bill is DOA.

I wonder if the firearms companies are lifting a finger to prevent renewal of the AWB? I'll betcha a buck they aren't...:scrutiny:
But they don't hesitate to ask for us gunnies' support for the bill that will relieve THEM of frivolous suits.

Tell that to Ron Barrett.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Senate is currently considering adding the extention of the AWB to the gun lawuit bill. The Democrats think they have the votes needed. Here's hoping they're wrong. :uhoh: :barf:

I wrote my representative, letting him know that I only wanted him to support a clean bill...

Good news is: it's randy cunningham... his record is pretty good, and he's told me before that he won't support the "slippery slope toward confiscation"
