AWB and "Restricted: Government/Law Enforcement use only."

I thought the Post-Ban standerd Mags had "For LEO/Military use only" stamps on them, and the date of manufactor on them as well, and not to mention a special code.

That's not what I *might* have seen earlier this week, had I actually gone shooting with a friend who *might* have had such an item. ;) What I *might* have seen on the magazine, had I actually been there or seen it, was "For Law Enforcement Use Only," and nothing else.

I was at the gunshop recently looking for some new magazines for my XD 9mm. I was joking around with the salesman and said "only a few more weeks 'til I can buy those regular capacity magazines." There was some buff looking guy with arms bigger than my head standing close by that replied " if you can't get the job done with ten you need to go back to the range" I gasped and asked "who are you to tell me what I need?" He said he was so and so federal agent and stated that magazine capacity will never replace training. I had to agree but thought his comment was a bit arrogant sounding. I tried to think of a scenario in which quantity might have an advantage but kept it to myself.

Pardon my snickering.

One, sometimes a bullet is defective and doesn't send a bad guy flying back like he was hit with an RPG.

Two, sometimes there are a lot of bad guys. Possibly more than 10 of them. Heck, in every zombie movie I've ever seen, there were hundreds of 'em. If Hollywood says so, it must be true?

When I am practicing, I don't like having to bring a couple dozen 10 round magazines. A dozen 30 round magazines usually will do the job. Normal capacity magazines are just a time saver for me.

In short, why do I buy plenty of normal capacity magazines? Because I can and because I want to do so. I need no justifications.

I guess all those LEOs don't need those LEO Only mags after all.

If the ban sunsets, I think the defining moment will be when I, a civilian, try to buy an LEO high cap mag from an FFL holder. However, the FFL holders are probably trying to get an answer from BATF, with no success, and will not sell to non LEO's until they do. Any FFL holders out there that can add to this?

Oct_97,

I'd bet that the smart FFLs either already have an answer or will have it well before the advertising deadline for the next issue of Shotgun News that's due out after 9/13/04. The big boys already have lots of LEO-only mags, and they'd be fools to hold onto them in the buying binge that will occur after the AWB dies.
