Ruger mags and the AWB sunset

At the AWB sunset, won't the magazines that Ruger currently makes for law enforcement no longer be restricted from the public? So, could we finally get factory Mini-14 hi caps for decent prices?

I know that Ruger won't make hi-caps directly for the public, but what is to stop dealers from selling Ruger hi-caps (originally intended for LEO) to the public?

Even if Ruger does make good on that lousy promise I still believe that Hi-Caps will be available. At least one if not more third party companies will step up and make the mags that Ruger won't.

If you buy a Ruger mini-14 the mag you get is 5 round mag.By law you can have more 10 round mag. :banghead:

I find it difficult to believe they wouldn't sell hicaps with all their pistols. After all, they would be killed by the competition if they sold their full size 9mms with only 10 rnd mags...

As far as I know...........PMI has gone out of business and the tooling used for the magazines is sitting in a warehouse. I'm sure somebody will start producing them as soon as the AWB expires. COUNT ON IT!!

It should be a 20rd.


No firearm was affected more, by the AWB, than the Mini 14.

Who cares if Ruger doesn't market 20 or 30 round mags for the Mini-14? Guys, Ruger never made their own magazines to begin with. It was subcontracted out and I suspect PMI is responsible. Go PMI and let's hope that they make something for the Mini-30 too.

I've been wondering about that. If the ban goes away, there's nothing still in place that prevents dealers from selling mags to civilians that are stamped "Law Enforcement Only" is there?

What happens if the ban does sunset, you purchase some new LEO only mags and then the new ban comes in 2005 outlawing 10+ round mags again... do you get to keep your LEO mags?
