Okay, so if you have a pre-ban AR-15, and it was assembled pre-ban, if it ever loses all but the one evil feature, it immediately (legally, not realistically) becomes post-ban, right? And if it only ever had one evil feature, it is also effectively post-ban?

That's going a little overboard. As long as it was in the "pre-ban"/evil configuration before '94, it is pre-ban. Taking off and switching parts after the fact does not matter, and does not change its status.

In addition, if a rifle (lets say an AR) was assembled in 1993 with a 24" bull barrel (no bayo lug) with a recessed target crown (no flash suppressor) and completed with a full-length A2 stock, then it was not (and never will be) an Assault Weapon as defined by the AWB. Therefore, it is NOT pre-ban.

Not that any of this nonsense will matter in a few short months!
