The family is assembling 50 miles south of Phoenix AZ in Casa Grande this year. It's a new house for my brother-in-law, so he doesn't know the area very well.

Where is the nearest shooting area? Free public outdoor preferred, but indoor rental range may have to do. Will we have to drive to Phoenix?

Please help--our holiday shoots are a family tradition we'd like to continue this year!

If complicated, please email directions or maps to sinanju (dot) master (at) gmail (dot) com

If you are in Casa Grande just head East till you are 1/4 mile from any occupied buildings(or more), find a backstop and have fun. Please clean up after yourself! Or you could head to Tucson for the nearest range.

these are directions to the casa grande public range (from Phoenix, but you can ommit that part)
Get on the I-10 towards Tucson. You're gonna drive down that for quite a while, but once you pass some mountains and start to approach the outskirts of Casa Grande, be looking out for the I-8 exit. Take the I-8 West exit. Go down I-8 for a minute or two and get off at the Trekell exit and go south at the exit (you'll drive on the overpass). You'll pass a small neighborhood and after about a mile of going south, you'll see a row of telephone poles begin and a dirt road to your left. The road is called Arica, but I don't think there is a street sign, but anyways, take the dirt road which goes directly towards the mountain, and at the end of that small road is a T-intersection. You'll see a range in front of you, but I believe that is the shotgun range. Take a right at the T (you'll now be going south again) and there will be ranges to your left along the mountain. Just look for the one towards the end of those ranges with all the cars.

You can go on Google maps, switch to satellite view, and follow the directions above to get a better picture of distances and what it will look like.

Take Trekell south over I-8, keep driving until you see the telephone poles start, about 3/4 mile south, then look for the Trap Club sign to the left, turn there, Arica, follow it PAST the trap club, it turns to the right, go past the first range, that's LE only,(both on the left, mountain is backstop), second is the free public range, 5 differant bays, nice place.

Was just there a few hours ago. :)
