I'm trying to find a pocket CCW pistol. I like the safety of 1911's and was wondering if there are baby-1911 in any caliber that are reliable and small & thin enough for pocket carry.
Maybe try the Springfield EMP, that seems to be the smallest one out there, though I could be wrong of course. Or perhaps look for a used Colt Mustang.
If the EMP was available when I was buying my EDC, I'd have one (at least).
I bought a officer's 1911 (in .45) and am happy with it... at least to the point where I am not going to go through the effort of selling it to buy an EMP... but if i had it to do over... the EMP would probably be what I spent my money on.
I would not choose a 1911 for pocket carry. Some of the small ones like the EMP or the Colt Defender may fit, but I would always want to carry a 1911 in condition 1, since I won't count on having both hands available in an emergency. And I don't like pocket carry in condition 1.
For pocket carry, I'd generally go with a S&W J frame. But the small Kahr in 9mm looks like it might be good bet.
Not sure what or who makes llama but I can tell you guys that EMP is NOT designed for pocket carry. I handled the gun. It's a great little 1911 but unless you have a graphite laced XXL pockets that will not snag on to EMP's many protrusions your best bet is to IWB it.
