I'm a potential new shooter for IDPA. I was all set to purchase a Blade Tec kydex holster just prior to the holster wars of the new rule set. Based on the most recent rule update, can anyone advise of a kydex holster that will be "legal"? From my reading of the rules the Blade Tec isn't because of the belt loop size. Am I correct? Need help!

Comp-Tac has IDPA-legal holsters that have just come out. I believe they have details on their site or you can email them for specifics.

I thought Blade-Tech said their belt holsters were good to go? I'd email them directly to ask.

Blade-Tech is marketing some of their stuff as 'IDPA APPROVED', others as "approved with disclaimers".

Good luck,

From the IDPA rulebook.

Holsters:
A. Must be designed for concealed carry and suitable for all day continuous wear.

NOT Permitted:
D. Holsters designed and/or marketed as “competition†models.

While the ghost holster is a fine looking specimen, it is not a concealed carry holster. It is a competition holster, designed and marketed as such, and is not suitable for IDPA.

Psyop,
First let me say that I must be friggin blind! . I can't believe I just made that big of an ass of myself. (I usually make an ass of myself, just not that much. Maybe I'm starting a new level in moronics. :)
Thanks for rattling my sometimes numb mellon. For some reason, I had IPSC on the mind even though I was looking at IDPA written there.
In the words of Emily Litella.."Oh....that's different.....never mind."
Next I'll put forth me opinions on why we need more and not less violins in schools and on television. :D
Sorry about my confussion. I guess the alsheimers is setting in early.

As for IDPA holsters, look into Blade Tech, BuyBrown or one of the many other Kydex guys. For leather, if you are a traditional kind of guy like I tend to be, the market is filled with top quality holster makers.

As for Angus, he is the IPSC and not the IDPA shooter for team CZ.
I, on the other hand, wouldn't mind getting CZ to sponser me. Now all I have to do is learn to see the difference between IDPA and IPSC and then hit the target faster and more accurately than anyone else. I'm sure sponsorship will follow shortly.

Holster saga, next installment

I have contacted Comp Tac. They were very helpful. It seems I have the only Beretta model 96 in the known universe. I like it, it hits what I aim at, but getting a holster for IDPA is becoming more of a challenge than I thought it would be. Has anyone else found a Kydex holster for this particular gun. The Blade Tech folks are still working on it. Any help would be appreciate :banghead: d.

The 96 is just the .40 cal version of the 92. Any holster for a 92 should fit just fine. Comptac, bladetech both make holsters for the 92.

The difference is in the Centurion designation. The frame/barrel have a different balance than the non-Centurion 92/96.
