"Bassackward" logic

In a few days we will see letters to the editor pointing out that no one in the law firm was allowed to defend themselves.

The typical "Daley Country" response will be ...

"Thank heavens none of them had guns too, or it would have been like Dodge City in there and a lot of innocent people might have been killed or wounded."

I've seen it before.

They totally overlook the obvious, that three men were killed, execution style and another woman wounded before man with a gun showed up and stopped the carnage. How much worse does it have to be before people grasp that you might be able to stop or delay further shootings.

Actually I'm kind of surprised that no one at the law firm had a gun, since some well connected lawyers (read big Democrat contributors) have that rarest of all Chicago pieces of paper, a handgun permit.

Just for the record handguns aren't illegal in Chicago, if you have a permit.

They just stopped issuing any new permits about 20 years ago.

I think you are all too optimistic. The antigun spin will be like this.

" Look, this one LONE gunman with a SIX shot revolver managed to shoot four people. We NEED to ban any pistol that will fire more than one shot."

( Along with the almost total ban they already have, who will care? Who will fight it? That law would not affect enough people to make even a tiny ripple in the political surface.)

Better to be an urbane, witty

This is why I as a doctoral candidate often have to up my snootiness with antis.

"Why do you carry a GUN?", says the anti

"Pishaw say I! A gentleman doesn't sully his hands in a fisticuffs with a ragamuffin!"

Have you ever noticed that anti-gunners always find the massacre at Babi Yar a better model for society than "Dodge City", where fewer people were murdered in its entire history than in five minutes at Babi Yar?

I've been known to say, "Crude streetbrawling is for the laboring classes. As a gentleman, I prefer a large caliber handgun..."

Behaviors that primarily harm only those that do them, you mean drugs?
That is just one area where an enormous amount of criminal justice resources is wasted. There are many others - gambling, prostitution, etc., come to mind.

Drugs are equally harmless and harmful depending on the expertise of the user, they do however lead to a lack of productivity and a predilection to crimes such as theft, prostitution and fraud.
Not usually associated with legal gun ownership.
I don't really care about how productive a citizen is as long as it is not my problem to support him. Eliminate the support system for petty criminals and a lot of that goes away.

Most of the crimes associated with drugs are because drugs are illegal. Decriminalize them and a lot, but certainly not all of the problems go away.

A buddy of mine used to work in the building.

From what he said once you enter in the building you are escorted by security officers (unarmed). Then you sign in on the 3rd floor and then you were given a temporary ID with your picture.

After that you were escorted to the elevator and sent to your floor.

What he said is that the man had a polaroid camera. And that he took his picture and made a temporary ID with his picture. Then he must have used the hammer to pry open the service elevator and go upstairs. And then he went on his rampage.

Thats what we figure went down. Either way ISRA is demanding CCW laws to be passed for these kind of situations.
