I read an article about the rise, fall, and rise again of Dan Wesson revolvers. Anything to look for in to identify these so-called "bad" ones from the older and newer good ones? Or is it all a bunch of hooey?

Dan Wesson has a great reputation for quality guns, but, like all manufacturers, they also turned out some real lemons. Generally speaking, the current production and the one's produced in Monson, Mass. are the better guns. But, even with these, there are some lemons. I recently looked at a beautiful model 15 at my local gun shop. Everything was great! Beautifully polished and blued, barrel had sharp rifling and no roughness, trigger action was a little heavy, but that is true of most Dan Wessons. Then I opened the cylinder and looked at the chambers. Poorly machined! The chambers were a bit rough and three of the cylinder throats had deep machine marks. I handed this one back to clerk and continued on my way.

Years ago I had a Dan Wesson model 15 and it really was nice. It did not have any machining problems and was more accurate than I ever will be. I traded it for a computer. What was I thinking?
