ever traded or sold a handgun that down the road you were sorry that you ever did it ?
I had a custom Ruger SP101 out of the Weigand Shop that to this day I'm sorry that I ever let it go

Trade Regrets

Yep,every one of 'em except for a new Browning High Power! Traded it for a used Dan Wesson D11 .357. THAT was a GOOD trade.

I'm pretty sure anybody who trades can tell you of horror stories.

My most recent one was selling a Ruger GP .357 to a buddy, John Doe. I really liked it and almost wouldn't let it go but he said he really needed a revolver for hiking and such.

I and another friend specifically asked John to sell it back to either me or him if John didn't want it anymore. What does John do? He goes and sells it to a racist gun dealer (John is not White) for less than what we would have given him. The gun is out of our circle now and in the hands of a dealer that I won't patronize (I've had my share of bad deals with this dealer, not including a co-worker and I walking in on his and his buddies racist rants). I am White and he has treated me like crap too many times. I found out what John let it go for and it is too pathetic to post here.:fire:

I'm trying my hardest to make my first trade. Nobody is biting.
My only sale, to date, is a Yugo SKS that had been sported out and stripped of all its naughty bits. It came with a bulk ammo buy and the seller wouldn't part anything out. I shot it once, it was a piece of crap due in part to the "paint job" the seller had applied to the BOLT!!!:banghead: I already have a much nicer yugo, so I took it to the next show and sold it for a song, and bought a mosin. couldn't be happier.

No, but I learned my lesson selling a rifle long ago that I wish I had back. Until recently I'd never sold a handgun but did sell my Ruger .454 as I like my 629 much better. Other than that I have every handgun I've ever bought.

I have never 'traded' a gun for another gun before.

I have sold some firearms and although they were good and VERY nice guns (Bought NIB by me, one gift and some of my late husband's guns.) - I have NEVER regretted selling any of my guns. My late husband never regretted it either and he had far LESS guns than I did. He was into boats, sail and power, not firearms. His firearms were merely self defense "tools' to him as were his other construction tools when we built our own house. I have given a couple of guns to very close friends as gifts too.

There have been a couple of things that I have sold that I 'think' about now along with gifts and donations. I don't think, "Gee I wish that I had x, y or z item.", in that sense though.

It was a shame that I could not bring my nice, QUALITY, custom designed by 'us' built brick house, garage and barn out west but moving it would have been a 'pain'! Besides it was big for 2 people, no children, and too big for this former widow lady even if I had my very old 2 dogs back in my life unless I 'rented' out some rooms!

One thing I learned as a young lady... there is no time in your life for should have, could have and would have crapola - if people concentrated on that "STUFF" we might as well curl up and die!

I think that the older you get - you realize that stuff is just stuff when it boils down to most things aka objects and that includes, gasp, firearms! C ducks for cover!

C no need to duck, you are exactly on the money. I have spent 4 years in Iraq, and I am surprised with how little it takes to survive! The house and guns are just sitting there unused and unfired.

Peyton...

Peyton, you are correct on how little it takes to survive. Give a woman or a man, one or two firearms, that he or she knows and shoots well... they can survive with that if need be.

Many people can survive with the LESS is MORE 'stuff' in all areas of their lives. Some CHOOSE to live like this, some have to live like this and some MAY have to live like this if this country and the worldwide economy, wars, devaluation of the US dollar, worldwide 'money', deficits, food supplies, potable water, etc. continue on the DECLINE.

Many Veterans, old timers, depression era people, WW 1, WW2, other wars/conflicts 'survivors' from all around the world including here/stateside will tell you the same thing.

Take care.

Catherine

With very few exceptions, I regret nearly all of my gun sales and trades. Strange isn't it - I never regret a purchase (with no trade.)

the only gun i really regret getting rid of was a Kimber Royal Carry .45. Their custom shop did 600 of them when Kimber was a little different than today. Wish I had it back.

Some but few trades I have messed up on. I think I did well on my last one, a Bulgarian Makarov I traded even to get a Glock 17.

I have a few regrets like most who buy and sell a few firearms, but I try not to look back. There is always another one!

Yep.

I traded a colt 357 for a S&W K frame 22 when I was young. I did it because I couldn't afford to shoot 357 ammo and I didn't have enough money to buy a 22 and keep the 357.

Then I traded the original small stocks(perfect condition) on the smith for a set of large target stocks that were missing the finish.

Then I traded a colt...

aw forget it. I'm not going to think about that stuff anymore. It's going to make me sick to my stomach. Do you know how much colts have gone up in value?

Kind of.

Hey there:
Years ago I let go of some guns to freind that was to hold them for a while till I could repay him the cash borrowed against them. Nice guy. He sold them all.. 14 years later I found one of the handguns in a local gun store under the glass. Bought it back.

Won't ever do that again.

This answer to this question is a bit painful..Yes. But I am comforted that all of colleagues here are in the same boat!!

THe one I regret the most is the Baretta storm CX4 Carbine. It shore was ugly, but boy was it fun.

All the others were for the greater good.
