Have you ever traded or sold a pistol or riffle that you could just kick your self in the butt for doing that,?
I have a ole winchester 94 that belonged to my Great aunt, she gave that to me back in 1973,And I shot my first deer with that 30-30 and i wouldnt take all the money in the world, thats how much that gun means to me,'
I like to hear from you guys, that let something get away from them, and wished they had back, what they sold or traded away,

Almost every gun I have gotten rid of, I regret. Except my High Point 9mm and any compact 1911 style pistol. I miss the High Point 45 though.

I've sold several over the years. I miss the nice side by side 12 and wish I'd kept one more of the EG Maks. As for the others, it seemed right at the time and still does.

Believe it or not, the only firearm I regret selling is a Rossi 88 snubnose. I bought it used at a local gun shop some years back at a really good price. I sold it to a cousin of mine, and last I knew he still had it. Maybe I'll see if I can buy it back one of these days.

I sold a S&W a few years ago. I go from "you dummy" to "good deal" about it every now and then.

I got in a bad spot and sold my AMT Backup 45 a nunber of years ago. It was my pocket rocket. When Wisconsin passes a ccw law, I'll buy another one.

No. Once a gun gets in my grubby little hands, that's the end of the line. I love all my guns too much to get rid of them.

One. It was a Mil Spec Springer (not to be confused with a GI). I put the money down, bought a long trigger and flat MSH out of the parts bin, swapped them on, installed a new recoil spring, and picked it up next payday. Yes, I changed parts on it before it was paid for. I had about $450 in it when I carried it out. Got it home and installed Kimber rubber grips and an extended safety that I had laying around.

The plan was to customize more with Yost retro sights, caspian light rail, Smith and Alexander beavertail, commander hammer, blah blah blah. I just shot it, oiled it, and shot it more. The more I shot it the more I wanted a triggerjob, and the more I wanted to leave the rest alone. It was my beater, yard, and truck gun.

I traded it for an EOTech 552. I didnt get burned in the trade, but I miss that pistol more than the Colt 1991A1 I had. I really dont miss the Colt at all. Every time I see a used, parkerized mil spec Springer in the case, I go over my budget in my head. Always come up short.

Savage Model 99 in 250-3000.

A story must accompany this though. Dad got this gun for mom just after they were married. He was taking some visiting officers (He was stationed at Hill AFB at the time) hunting and she wanted to come along. When they found out that she'd be there they threw a fit. "She'll ruin the hunt!" was the cry. Does dad upset his new bride or upset a bunch of officers? He split the difference. He told them that he'd place her somewhere "safe" where she couldn't interfere with their hunt.

He found a nice clearing to leave her by and took the officers to where he figured the deer would be. Not too long after they left her they heard 5 shots, then one more. (The Savage had a rotary 5 shot magazine.) When they came running back they found that she'd killed six deer. She'd shot 5 times, reloaded, and gotten one more deer before they were out of range. Six shots, six deer. The officers were SO mad at dad. (By the way, there were 5 in the whole party. They butchered one and ate it in camp over the next few days before returning to Hill.) When I left home mom gave me that gun. It was more precious to me than any firearm on earth.

Why'd I get rid of it? Someone stole it. I think I should have the right to find the theif and stake him down near a bed of fire ants.

only ever sold 2 guns... a glock and a 10/22... I was glad to see both of them go... they were both a POS.

I usually sell or trade off guns because I don't like them. But I've also sold a SIG P220 for two-thirds of its worth because I needed money, and a Colt Agent (almost any Colt revolver has some collector value these days) for half its worth in trade for another gun ... which I hated and have now sold.

Long ago, when I was young and foolish, I sold a war-model Walther P38 in pristine condition to fund a spring break road trip, of all things. Today I'm older and foolish, but I'll wager there's not a week goes by that I don't think of that P38 and what I'd give to get it back.

My grandfather had, among other guns, a Remington M-11 in 16ga, and a Winchester M-12 heavy duck ribbed barrel in 12ga mag. I was in love with M-12s ever since handling my dad's 16ga featherweight at 10 years old...Well, grandpa wound up making a gift of that M-11 when I was about 22, but that thing was such a miserable fit, I couldn't hit a barn from inside, and I really hated the long-recoil system and the whole what-load-am-I-shooting-today-so-I-can-tear-the-gun-down-and-see-which-way-the-*(^#@*&$-ring-is-set routine. So I sold it after a few years of trying to learn to hit with it...Now that he's gone, I wish I'd held on to granddad's shotgun, even though I still hate squarebacks...I have a M-12 to use now.

BTW, my cousin wound up with that M-12, and I doubt it gets used at all, and my brother got his M-71, and I know he doesn't use it...

uuuugggghhh...

The 6" blued Colt Python I bought for $500 OTD that needed some timing work but was a 95% condition piece. I never had the time to get it looked at so I eventually sold it off for a small profit. I've regretted that ever since.

I'm thinking of selling my Russian SKS to put the money towards a Savage 10FP. The SKS is a 1952 Tula Arsenal with all matching numbers in very good shape. It's also a fine shooter. With original sights, I can hold 3 inch groups at 100 Yards using the cheap Wolf ammo. I know if I sell it, I'll kick myself in the @ss later on.....:(

I've only sold one gun and that was long ago, but today will sell my second. I liked this Ruger SRH .454 Casull, right up until I got a S&W 629. Like the rest of my S&W revos the trigger is unbelievable and it made the .454 extinct. The Ruger is ported and had a trigger job but still has nowhere near the S&W trigger and that makes the S&W more fun to shoot! :)

When we got married, my wife had some kind of 25 auto. Could not get rid of it fast enough. Looking back if it had been a baby Browning or a Colt I would like to have it, otherwise no.

I do have a few I am not too crazy about, but have kept. Generally I research, and look , then buy to keep.

Sold a Stainless Series 80 Gold Cup, a Blue Series 80 Gold Cup, stainless Colt Python(my biggest regret), nickel plated Series 80 Gov, 41 S&W and more. I'm still:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Only a few:
Ruger Blackhawk .357 $67.00 in 1968.
Traded it for a .44 Mag. Super Blackhawk in 1986

Started shooting SASS in 2002 and had to buy a few Single actions.

Of course, I've sold or traded away a few handguns and rifles
that I should have my a$$ kicked for doing; as reflecting back,
they were signs of the"good times" when everything including
guns was made with PRIDE and true craftsmanship.;) Non
of this CNC machinery mess~! :(

Sold a beauty of a Browning 20 ga O/U that I didn't want to, but I only had $1000 in it, $700 of which I didn't have, and I sold it for $1200 1 week later. I did get one good pheasant/quail shoot out of it. Wasn't so much I regret selling it, I just wish at the time I could have afforded to keep it.

I sold a Browning BSS 12 ga that I have always regretted. Bought another, but it never was quite the same. Sold it without regret, but sure wish I hadn't sold the first one. I thought I cut a fat hog in the ***, which I did, but I still wish I had it back.

Sold an LC Smith 16 ga that I have often regretted. I only had $250 in it, used it several years and got $750 out of it, but have often wished I'd kept it.
