Ballistol

The aroma is almost an olfactory Rorschach test. Some can't stand it, some like it and some don't really notice it.

I'm in the "don't really notice it" group whereas my wife can't stand it from 20 feet away.

Now I wonder what the results of that test mean? :D

I have used it on and off for the last 10 years, though mainly on non-firearm applications. Upon initially purchasing it, I used it to remove internal corrosion on a chrome-plated brass kitchen sink faucet. I was at my wits end trying to find something that wouldn't eat the precision surface where the o-rings rode on, and on a lark tried Ballistol. Sure enough, it remove all the bad stuff and left me with clean internals. Surprised me really nicely!

I use it to wipe down guns before going back in the safe. I use it the way you use furniture polish. I apply it with a cloth then buff off the excess with a microfiber cloth. It leaves a slick dry film that enhances almost anything and doesn't attract dust like CLP and CorrosionX do. I've been using it off and on for nearly 10 years and have never had any rust.

The odor of Ballistol makes me nauseous, and I think I have a high tolerance for foul odors, based on owning three cats and 13 years near a certain ex-boss.

I use Eezox on the finishes, and drift from lubricant to lubricant for the internals as the mood strikes me. I'm particularly satisfied with the way the Eezox protects the flats on my blued 1911.
