I recently came across this rifle on GunBroker.com and fell in love with it. At first glimpse I thought it was a bsa martini until I looked closer and did a little research. Turns out it is a very rare rifle, especially here in the US. Seems there are very few of them around. I've been in contact with a gunsmith in the UK as he has worked on a few and he really regards these smallbore rifles for there quality and accuracy. I'm going to have a scope mount fabbed up that will mount to the barrel where the rear scope block would have been and float back over the action. Can wait to get that done to see what this old girl can do. From what I've found it seems she was made in about 1949!

WHoa- that looks sweet! Is this the same Barnett as the crossbow company?

The trigger guard is shaped like that because of the adjustable trigger mechanism. It is a single unit like a remington 700 trigger. Yes it is made by the same barnett company as the crossbows. The rifle has an under lever that moves the bolt rearward as its pushed forward and closes the bolt as the lever is pulled rearward. The bolt locks up in about the last .75" of the lever travel.

I couldn't get the Barnett ten-x PDF to load. What did it say about your rifle, #417?

Just mentioned about existing and supposed to be very accurate. Excuse me also, it wasn't the link I put up, the link previously posted shows it.

Well I have a little bit of an update about this rifle. I had it at the Smith to get a scope rail fabled and installed. This rifle seems very accurate with rws r50 ammo.

This rifle was shooting a little inconsistent, I think it's from the way the action mounts in the stock. There's not really two action bolts. One goes up through the grip section of the butt and the second goes through horizontally above the trigger. I shimmer the chamber area of the barrel and the groups shrank dramatically to where it should be. I'm very happy with it now

Update:
I ordered a harrell tuner for this old girl! Can't wait to see how she groups once the sweet spot is found... I hope it cuts the group in half...I also installed a sling stud on the forearm to use a bipod...

I have a custom 40x with a tuner. It works, but you sometimes have to blow thru a lot of ammo to tune it and then sometimes that brand or lot simply won't work well in your gun and you have to start over.

Here's the kind of 5 shot groups it can do at 50 yards with middle of the road ammo, Center X, after fidgeting with the tuner.

My custom vostok cm2 with the tuner will shoot groups very similar to that @ 50yds with rws r50. Just ordered some r100 to try. I use it in smallbore fclass.

Farmerboy,

What did you do to your Vostok to customize it? About 5 years ago, I watched half a dozen of them cycle in and out of hands after a gunstore got a pile.

Well, when I bought it off GunBroker.com it had already been customized. Urban camo paint on the stock, metal has been cerakoted, barrel was shortened and recrowned, and it had a scope mount on it. The mount is one of the few I read about that a machinist fabbed from aluminum, will mount on the side dovetail, and has a picatinny rail on top. I mounted a weaver t36 in Burris 20 moa rings and put a tuner on the barrel.

Well I have received and installed my tuner on this ten-x and realized after shooting, that it likes eley black box more so than the r50 I have been shooting. I may try to install a rail of some sort in order to shoot this rifle with a sling. It's just not grouping well enough for f class due to the trigger weight. I may play with it and see if I can get it down.
