I just got clearance and was approved and became a member at the local FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) range. I like it cause it is open to members 24hrs/day. It is an outside range with lights if you want to turn on the lights. You get the combo to the lock, you walk in, lock the gate behind you and can shoot anything and whatever you want. Full auto, 50bmg, 20mm whatever you got, bring it.
Well finally had a chance to take the Barrett M82a1 CQ to the range yesterday. All i can say is what a beast. The recoil is like shooting a 12g 3" Magnum 000Bucks. The recoil is one thing, but the one issue i had no idea was the amount of blast that comes back at the shooter. Oh my god. It is like getting bitch slapped in the face. People standing 15ft back say they feel the thumb in their chest. You must be there to know what i am talking about.
I sighted in the gun and shot about 20rnds. The gun for being a semi-auto 50 is pretty accurate. I was getting about 1.5-2MOA at 100yards with non-match ammo. I am sure with match ammo and more trigger time i can shrink it down.
Once it got dark, i packed up the Barrett and pulled out the MSAR STG-556 and did some running and gunning. The girly had never been shooting and shot the rifle and my Walther PPS and i was actually impressed for her first time shooting. She listens well. She has requested to come shooting with me more often. She really liked it. Here is a video:
