Functionally the same or not?

125 grain Rainer FP's topping 4.7 grains of HP38 is my pet load for my model 10. I can't get more right now but I got 500 Barry's played bullets of the same design. Use the same charge or work back up? The charge is midrange jacketed data as Barry's suggests.

I don't think you're going to find much difference between the two. If it were me, I'd go with it.

The correct answer would be to re-work your load, but I don't see a problem keeping with a mid-range load.

The only real issue with pushing above the mid-range for jacketed bullets is to prevent the copper plating from shearing off, from what I understand.

When I switched from Rainier 147 gr FP 9mm to Berry's 147 gr RN, my powder load change by .1 gr. The Berry's were a little longer. You should be fine.

In my extremely limited comparison (one bullet type), Berry's take a little more powder. That was with 155gr 40SW FP's.

Berry's are faster than x-treme bullets and I cannot explain why. Re-work those loads IMHO.

It seems unlikely the two brands of bullets are the same plating thickness, core hardness, or ogive profile.

That being?

The proper course of action would be to maintain your mid-level powder charge.

But adjust the seating die OAL to maintain free chambering without hitting the rifling.

That could be shorter or longer, but I doubt it will be the same.

Once you get there, adjust the powder charge up or down as needed to maintain the same accuracy.

Maybe, as COL Cooper said, I am contributing to the delinquency of reloaders, but I have not changed the seating die on my 9mm setup in months. I have loaded two brands of 115 gr FMJ, two brands of 147 plated, one 147 FMJ, and even some JHPs and the present supply of 125 gr moly coated lead conicals. Seating depths are not the same but they are good enough for the three guns I and a friend have been shooting. The chronograph ensures that I am not frisky with seating depth vs powder charge.

I load Berry or Ranier 124gr 9mm plated RN the exact interchangeably. I too use only Win 231/HP-38 at the upper end of lead not past mid of FMJ.

I've loaded both Berrys and Rainier in 9mm with HP38 and use the same loads and OAL. results for range practice are essentially the same.
