Ok sports fans You REALLY need to read the following book.It will 'splain to you how the gov.org is able to know what it knows about you.

*No Place to Hide*
By Robert O'Harrow JR.

Read through THIS STORY. It'll give you dozens of wonderful new ideas for "Google" searches.

BTW... just because it's illegal for the government to build and maintain certain databases, it's NOT illegal for the government to sell that data to private companies **cough cough choice point cough cough** and then buy the information back from those private companies on a case-by-case basis...

...During the Malvo/Mohammod shooting spree I was talking to the owner of a local gun shop that sells a lot of AR's. He said the BATFE was in there on a daily basis going through his 4473's.

If I remember correctly that far back (from posts made here), law enforcement was knocking on the doors of people in the area who had bought an AR. How did they know? Read the quote above.
They wanted to "borrow" the AR to run ballistic tests to exclude it as the weapon used in the still ongoing shootings. Don't know how many guns were tested, or if anyone refused and what happened because of that. Chime in if you know.

Sort of like a girl in a certain town gets raped, all you guys who live there and are over four feet tall, are going to give us a DNA sample to prove your innocence. Pretty scary.

Burm, if the BATFE had info on specific make and model of your gun, it didn't come through the NICS check. ATF might have called your FFL, or may have stopped down and did an audit, and that's when they saw the info.
