I would like to get a pistol for my wife that has some real beauty to it.
Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder....but she thinks that the glocks and my XD are kind of like the "1980's chevy trucks compared to new trucks" her words, not mine.

She really enjoys shooting my XD 9mm, just doesnt like the looks of it. This is a surprise, that's why I'm asking here and not her. I've dropped hints and she seems to kind of shy away from black or blocky, and she likes the shiny stuff, and scroll work etc, etc. I showed her this.

and she liked the engraving, but she's not so into blued steel, she prefers shiny stuff.

Any ideas gents? Nobody here in town seems to have anything that looks elegant enough to be a gift to match the recipient.

Thanks!

How about a nice, stainless Springfield Mil-Spec 1911? No engraving and such, but the stainless look is nice, and it's plenty customizable. Classic look too...

Or maybe a Beretta Inox or Sig P-Series Equinox.

Or maybe she's into bling?

offered to buy my wife a Kimber CDP II like mine, but she didn't like the 45 kick so we looked and she fell for the Springfield Armory EMP, 9mm she's put about 4 to 5 hundred rounds through it and loves it. it is a great gun. she likes the size, feel in her hand just everything about it.

Browning HP

If she likes the 1911, then a HP might me a nice gift.

dogbonz: what an HP? highpower?

i've taken her to google images on the EMP and Beretta Inox and Sig P-Series Equinox, she said they all look 'very masculine'...but I didn't tell her that i'm looking for a gift for her either. None of them made her say "ooooo, pretty gun", which is what I was hoping for.

I would like to avoid the taurus pearl grip, gold accent line for as long as possible, because those are the most attractive guns to ME, and I'd hate to buy her my dream gun... then again, there's something to be said for his and hers pairs of things.

Could I have someone do some scroll work and engraving on a stainless pistol for her? If so, how long would that take? *trying to meet a deadline of October 20*

A stainless steel Colt Lightweight Commander, Combat Commander, or Government Model.

A Beretta Cheetah is always a top choice based on looks among the ladies I meet. It's a scaled down Beretta 92. It's the gun Trinity often used in the Matrix movies. The 92 looks huge in a small woman's hands.

The 1911 has a very masculine appearance. The small Beretta might appeal more to her.

Typically not a big fan of the Sig aesthetic, but I have to admit that P232 is a very classy and attractive gun. What about a CZ 75 30th Anniversary? They are a little hard to find, but I think they are attractive without being gaudy, although I guess that's in the eye of the beholder.

EAA's Witness Gold Team pistol is also very modern looking. I have always thought it to be the pistol version of an iPod...

Your other option is to get a gun that you know she will like and ship it off to get customized by someone. Actually, I think that might be your best bet simply because you know her aesthetic sense better than we do, and I think it would make it more special for her.

You could look at an older Smith & Wesson 39-2 in bright nickel. Nice size grip for people with smaller hands, 9mm so not to bad for recoil.

To an extent, I agree with PPGMD, but sometimes surprises are nice too. If you want to get a feel for that, without her knowing, have one of your guy friends ask her for advice in picking something for his wife.

My girlfriend also dislikes the blocky shape of many firearms, so I pointed out some of the Beretta NEOS

and she really like the appearance and feel - particularly the deluxe models, because of the two-tone grips (there are more available from beretta as well, check the 'pro-shop' on their site). She also likes the Storm carbine, but it seems that you are looking for a pistol in particular.

The other pistols that she really liked, in spite of the blockyness, were the Sigs in the 'Equinox' color-scheme.

Best of luck in your search, let us know what you choose (I'm also looking for ideas).

WildWest Guns in Alaska got Jim White to do some engraving for me. I liked it but it's not like I have anything to compare it to. Seemed pretty quick.

Here's one from Bills Custom:

And there's always the guild listing.

Sig P239 SAS 9mm? Sig 232 or Springfield EMP as tydephan suggested?

all stainless PPK? HK P7? Walther P99/P99c?

I can see almost any lady being able to fall in love with ONE of those guns I just mentioned. They are all good choices for a woman to carry IMO. 9mm or less..

She's gotta love one of those. I think an EMP or a Kahr P9/PM9 would be the first gun I'd get for a significant other.
