I don't know why I like the square Benellis as much as I do, but the design, machining, fit and finish are second to none. Very high bore axis, natural grip and instinctive pointing.

I bought this one from one from an individual and it wasn't the nicest one he had available!

I foolishly passed up one of those years ago. I hadn't much knowledge about them and when I went back to look again, they'd sold it. Haven't seen any more up here since then. I do see them available on-line but either a ta really good price and it's gone or a high price that doesn't sell (as is the case for a few on Gunbroker that've been there for over a year now). They hold great. Parts aren't readily available for them though. That's the only downfall I'd see but can't see that they'd break any mor than any other model.
I believe a number were also made and imported for the 9x21 cartridge as well. (many Euro countries cannot have "military" chambered firearms)
 
I too have a B-76. They are essentially a fixed barrel design, meaing they can be very accurate, I know mine is. I would like to have another, but the few I see for sale on the 'net are over-priced.

I agree, they are beautiful guns, well made too.
 
I have one too. Very accurate. I found it in a gun shop a few years back for $275 or $300 and thought "Wow, where am I going to get this kind of quality for that kind of money?" I bought it immediately.:)

Benelli made a target version oif this pistol that was nearly as good as a SiG 210 and never really caught on.
A shame too because they were very, very good handguns.
 
I can vouch for Pippin53 as he's the person from whom I bought my 3rd Benelli. His appraisal was dead-on and he's an honest guy to deal with.

Love mine

Its my favorite handgun. I paid $300 for mine about 10 years ago. Maybe I paid too much but I sure do like it. Its probably more accurate that I can shoot. One odd thing about mine is that it has no import marks on it at all. Benelli factory said it might have been brought back by military or perhaps government official. Does everyone's elses gun have a importer mark or name on it?

what year were those made? 1976? it reminds me of those straight edge car designs, ital-design guigario, lotus, etc. kind of neat but looks like a heavy steel very plain design (like a korth 9mm).
 
First offered in 76/77

First patented in Italy in 72 and 75 in the US.Imported in the US by Sile Distributors. Came in 32ACP in a blowback version and in 30 Luger, 9mm and 9mm Ultra.
Has a rigid non-recoiling hard chromed barrel and subframe,very unique toggle action internal bolt,Luger like grip angle,double action,pressed steel frame,excellent accuracy..whats not to like? Its too bad that the mag capacity was limited to 8 rounds.
A total of about 10,000 were imported, with most being 9mm. There were also target models with target sights and longer barrels imported but are not usually seen.Some gun writers have stated that the pistol was adopted for a while by the U.S Navy Seals and the KGB but I can't verify that.
 
Another pristine B76

I purchased mine in 1985 for about $220 and have always loved it. It’s highly accurate, and well made.

I have one minor complaint however; when I have a full clip with the maximum spring pressure from the magazine and using non-jacketed ball-type rounds, the incoming round has a tendency to stick (jam) on the rather steep ramp.

Hello Gents (and Ladies, if you're present)

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

Just thought I would put in my $.02 on this.

I just picked up a Benelli B80; a "me to me" Christmas present. It's the same pistol as the B76. but chambered in .30 Luger (or 7.65 Luger if you prefer). I'm very impressed with the fit and finish. It actually looks brand new. I don't think it's been fired much if at all by the looks of it. Even the mag followers don't have any marks on them.

I had heard there could be feeding problems with these guns if you're using anything but hardball. Just for fun tonight (I was bored) I tried to see if it would feed an empty, sized case from the magazine. It did so without a problem, I guess because of the bottleneck case. I tried to run a mag full of empties through it but I couldn't get the cases to sit in the mag right. I think the lack of a bullet was the problem. Anyhoo, I don't think I'll have any feed problems. I still have to find time to shoot the bloody thing. Kids and Christmas...Spare time???? What spare time???

PS...Anybody know where you can find spare mags for this little beauty??

I had one back in the late '70's, and I think the reason it works best with FMJ is that it was primarily designed that way. I don't believe it was designed for the military, as there are way too many little parts in that gun for field use. The gun itself was very accurate in SA mode, suited well enough for target shooting, but the DA on mine was very stiff and heavy. Mag capacity was probably it's primary shortcoming, but they couldn't have designed that Luger-like grip around a double column magazine.
 
I was able to get two B-76's - one for me, one for my son - and magazines are usually the source of feeding problems, and they may require tweaking. Mine will now feed, fire and extract any type of 9mm I put in them.

I've gotten my mags from Joe's Pawn Shop in Albertville, Alabama. Past that, it just takes time searching for 'em...a lot of it.

I've had 3, B-76's through the years. Had an adjustable sighted version back in the early 80's. Sold it. Should have kept it.

I've had 2 since, and I currently still have one. It is a keeper. I have never had a malfunction, but I have only fed it FMJ ammo.

Yes, they are beautiful and unique. Great shooters too.

Need B-76 parts

Can anyone lead me to a site that might have parts for the B-76? Primarily, I'd be interested in extra magazines.
 
I think the magazines are the same for a B-76 and a B-80, I went shooting with a friend and we changed mags between the two types, 9MM and 7.65 Parabellum. I doubt that it helps though.
