Well she ran but the safety is out of commission and every now and then the barrel gets stuck now... I took it out and put about 200 rounds through it and here is my summary.
Before the new hammer spring.
Pretty decent trigger pull
Ran decently with any ammo
Easy to rack and cock hammer
about a 25 to 50% light strike ratio
After new spring.
Slightly heavy trigger pull
Runs about 85% with CCI mini mags but won't run anything else I've tried
Hard to rack
Only about a 5% light strike ratio
The pistol is a 1991 vintage that I gave $195 for.
Other than the hammer spring I also added a new firing pin, firing pin spring, trigger spring, new mec-gar mag (Mag definitely helped). Before the hammer spring I had added gold accents and did some polishing work along with extending/reshaping the feed ramp. Also have expensive grips on the way that I may or may not use.
Besides the light strikes I liked the way the pistol functioned with just the work I did before the new springs, although It has loosened up some and is a little easier to rack after putting a few rounds down range. Hopefully it continues to do so and I can get to a balance between the before and the after.
I like to tinker but I have put too much time and money into this little pistol so after I get the safety working again I'm just going to run it and hope for the best.
If nothing else this old girl don't look to bad.
