I have the 9mm version, with a trijicon tri-power(red dot basically). It is plenty accurate to put one behind a hogs ear. Follow ups are quick for me, although the trigger takes some getting used to. Very heavy and long pull, but once you get the feel for it you can group well at 50 and under.
I wouldn't likely take mine to the woods looking for pigs, but likely would if it was a .45.
It tends to be everyones favorite at the range to borrow.

I have it in a 40 with a red dot and love it. It is very accurate and have not had a problem with it...
...other than trying to keep ammo in it. It is sooo fun to shoot.
I have never thought about using it to hunt.
I am jealous that you are getting it in 45. I have been thinking about getting one. Let me know how you like it.

I have played with a bipod at the range to see how it would group at 100, but it seems unnecessary when I'm in the woods. It would hold about 3-4 inches with white box ammo, which I thought was pretty decent.
There is a thread in the Hunting section on deer hunting with a .45 pistol, those that have done it suggest Hornady TAP ammo if you don't reload. It has a bullet that expands well and holds together for good penetration.

is that a .45 acp or .45 colt, a .45 acp aint much of a hunting round, now a .45 colt....mine loaded with 300 grain cast bullets is a helluva round against some of the big boars I got in my pastures and a challenge for a 50 yard shot.

Must be really tiny pigs if you think .45 ACP is the right caliber for them. The ones here charge you when shot, a .45 ACP doesn't even qualify as a backup gun. I don't hunt but my uncle hunts boar. I think he uses something like a 7.62x54 (don't recall, but some "full-size" rifle cartridge) and a .44 mag as a sidearm.

I'm not advocating its use as the great pig medicine, but if i had that carbine and one presented itself I would eat it later if it was young enough.

I wouldn't consider the .45 ACP to have enough penetration for wild boar. If the Storm is +P rated then proper ammo selection with CorBon DPX or some other highly penetrating ammunition might make it suitable.

Agreed, an aquaintance of mine shot a 150 lb sow in the skull (frontal shot) with his Kimber while she was in the trap and it made a white shiny spot and a very angry pig. It didn't penetrate the skull. But as mentioned +P is wiser and pick your shots well. Good luck and wipe them hogs out!
I agree, when hog hunting, penetration is the superior factor. A rifle (preferably .30 cal) and a pistol no less than 10mm as a sidearm. Not saying at all that a .45acp cant eventually do the job, but when it comes to these aggressive hogs you want to drop them as fast and humane as possible.

Nonsense, with the proper bullet the .45ACP will cleanly take any average sized hog, if you place it properly. My favorite hog load in the .44 is a regular commercial 240gr SWC over 10.0gr Unique for only about 1100fps. A good .45ACP load is not far behind that, particularly from a carbine. If your carbine will feed SWC's, you're all set but I'd limit shots to within 50yds.

I assumed that the .45 would get the same fps gains from a carbine as my 9mm with +p ammo, but what I could just find doesn't support that.

Im pretty sure a 45 will kill a hog...ive dropped several with 22 mag and even LR

I was going to say....while not the 'perfect', not even moderately so, the 22MAG and 22LR has dropped a many pig beast in the southland!
I was in FL once, saw several BIG hogs killed with a 22MAG! And not pinned up pigs either, but shot off of a buggy!

And of course not all hogs are created equal. Big difference between a lovely 150lb eatin' hog and a 600lb behemoth that tastes like a pickled work boot.

I kill 8-10 pigs a week with my .17hmr..cheap, accurate,deadly and sort of quiet so I can drive to next pasture and catch some more out in the open. always got my favorite

Really? I use an AR15 on Javelinas, and Either a AR or a WASR (AK) and a knife on feral hogs and boars...never use a pistol. I have even done knife only (with the help of dogs) hunts on them and have never been hurt (Except for falling ) and never felt undergunned. 75/77grn Blackhills have no issues cracking their brain bucket hear on, and I have had several kills within 50 yards head on and side chest shots.YMMV.

I thought the CX4 was interchangeable with Beretta 92 mags? The local PD bought a few CX4s for it's officers because they said the mags would interchange with their duty weapon mags (Beretta 92s). I can't imagine that it's hard to find extra Beretta 92 mags...
