I've read that Beretta had issues with their stainless steel 92's. The slide catches and extractors would break. A few of the people had those parts replaced with blued parts which worked flawlessly. I want to buy one and wonder if Beretta has fixed these problems.

I've got a inox (stainelss) 92fs from 1992 & have had ZERO slide release or extractor issues. Buy one, enjoy it & don't worry about it ;)

I checked the Beretta website, maybe I'm blind but I couldn't find info on the differences between the 92FS version and the Brigadier version?

Thanks!

The Beretta website is terrible.

The Brigadeer has a beefier slide with a replaceable front sight.

I think the only thing I've heard was about a redesign of the FS locking block with some relief of material from the sides to correct possible premature breakage.

Again this is a change internal to the FS, and not the earlier F series.

Blued slide release and extractor would look stupid.

The stainless extractor problem is with the 96 pistols. I haven't heard the one about the slide stops.

I sent my Stainless 96 back to the factory for them to replace the trigger bar.

Hmmmm....And they have the nerve to charge more for the stainless models, eh? :scrutiny:

I have a Beretta 96 inox (stainless) that i have put many, many rounds threw with no problems . Buy one a shot the h.... out of it and never look back you want go wrong with the stainless. Buy the one you want .

To answer the initial post more directly:

Guns are machines.

They are made by humans.

Humans aren't perfect, nor are the machines they create.

Some machines are "lemons" from the get-go, some break sooner than others.

On the whole, Berettas are no doubt one of the finest handguns on the market.

I have a blued and stainless 96, and I love them both.

Other than the minor issue with the SS 96, they have both been totally reliable.

Buy whichever Beretta you want, and don't look back.

Though you may end up with several, like me.... :D

Ask the folks at the Beretta forum -- www.berettaforum.net

They should be able to help you with all things Beretta.:D Incidently, I've had two Beretta compacts type M. You'd have to pry them from my cold, dead hands! I love them!!:D :) ;)

The Beretta 92 SS Ive seen hasnt had a problem yet ,my friend has put thousands of rounds thru it no problems yet.:)
