I've avoided the Beretta 92 series for over twenty years of shooting as a hobby, favoring the Browning Hi Power, CZ-75's, and HK P7's mostly to fill the 9MM role. I shot the big Beretta in the early 90's and it really didn't do anything for me., even thouhg it was new, very popular in movies, military, and law enforcement at the time. I didn't really think about the 92 until shooting one recently. Something clicked, so I bought one.
It has turned out to be a really nice shooting pistol. I like the large grip, as it fits my hand, and its size absorbs the recoil. It is a very soft shooting, and for me a pretty darn accurate pistol. There is also something about it I like that I can't explain, but it may be aesthetics, the quality, the absolute reliability, or just that it is new to me. Who knows, but I know I like it better than the current polymer offerings on the market, although as polymers go the PX-4 Storm looks like a good choice, but I'd get the 92.
