Glad to know that. The one I bought is a former Ohio State Highway Patrol service weapon.I tried it out today and it jammed the first round.Think maybe I need to use brass instead of steel rounds.
If you look directly on top of the slide forward of the rear sight, you will notice a rectangular shaped piece if steel that sits flush with the steel of the slide when the trigger is fully forward. With the gun unloaded, pull the trigger slowly, you see this rectangular block rise out of the slide as you pull the trigger to the rear, it will drop back down as you release the trigger. This is the firing pin safety block. The firing pin has a relief cut on the right side about midway, and this safety block sits firm and locks the firing pin from hitting the primer unless the trigger is pulled fully through a cycle. That's your safety device for your particular pistol.

Try some Winchester USA brand 180 fmj ammunition in your new pistol.
I believe the jamming issue will go away.
96DAO is just like a revolver.
The safety stuff is all inside, plenty safe to keep and carry with a round in the chamber unless, of course, you have little kids floating around the homefront.HTH
