Beretta M9A4, my first Beretta.

Just decided on a Beretta M9A4 after researching every 9MM I could get my hands on. I limited my budget to $1700 or so. There are so many fine 9MM handguns on the market. The CZ's were at the top of my list and so were the FN's and the Sig 226 was nearly the winner. The M9A4 had everything I was looking for. Threaded barrel at 5.1 inches that was the best platform for a suppressor. Already RDO ready. Decocker, metal frame, DA/SA although I was so intent on getting the CZ Shadow 2 SAO but it was too heavy. I like the sand color as it matched my Taco. Has a storied past for reliability and accuracy. Easy takedown, tritium night sights that are quite excellent. Nice ammo box packaging that keeps everything together well protected.

Now this gun has never been fired but I felt stock springs and trigger pull needed some attention so I put an M-Carbo Pro Trigger kit in it and got 6.75#s DA and 3.5#s SA pull. I also did a deburring and polishing of the trigger and sear. Wow, so nice compared to factory lawyer triggers. The toughest part was putting in the sear spring (awkward) and assembling the safety decocker mechanism without launching springs and bits all over the place, it did happen. Now its off to the range in a day or so for first firing. So far I really love the pistol and know so much more about it after taking it down to the last spring. I'll post targets next week.

Which gripframe does the A4 have? The straight backstrap feels better to me.
I've an M9; got it simply because it was the service weapon after the1911. It's always run well, and shares its magazines with a Storm carbine.
Free admission: not crazy about DA/SA guns, but the M9/92 are great guns.

It's the Vertec frame and it comes with both wrap around and side slab grip panels. I'm using the latter.

I got a pile of 92s and they fit me well. I WOULD prefer the 226 but its just a smidge too wide for me to reach the mag release without changing my grip.
Mine are all older and got the standard "D" spring and steel small parts upgrades.

I put the M*CARBO kit in my M9, world of difference. I completely agree that the sear spring was the hardest part, awkward position to align everything. The Langdon trigger bar is another nice upgrade, removing virtually all overtravel. Pricey, but nice. Site says it works for the A3, but there are YT videos showing users installing them in A4s.

Congrats on you Beretta M9. It is a good firearm. But it is a big firearm. I have a Beretta M96 (M96 40 S&W). It shoots well but is large to conceal.

But, what ever works for you.

Nice choice. They're good pistols. I have two with a bunch of rounds through them and haven't managed to wear them out yet.

I was not the biggest Beretta fan for a long time, I was more a SIGSauer p-226 fan, but they have really grown on me over the years. I can’t think of a better way to start off a 9mm infatuation than by buying one, you did good. (I am also a huge CZ-75 fan, those are my all time favorite 9mm pistols!)

My Beretta 96 Centurion (.40 S&W) is a solid, nice shooting pistol along the same lines as the 92/M9 series. You will find your M9 to be an accurate and reliable gun that will shoot and shoot for decades, again, you bought a good one.

So we don't get reported. This is a mixmaster Model 96 (40 cal) I got when all of the PD's were dumping their 40's. Shoots great.

This is my second mag of PMC Bronze 115 grain FMJ. Not bad for cheap ammo. Two hand, cup and saucer, weaver stance at 15 yrds. Can't wait to create my own loads.
